The worst beat I saw (before throwing my hands up in despair) was a 22-1 river draw for someone to give them a winning hand. Unlucky for the other guy, but nothing particularly notable? Did I miss something?

Think the worst was AAAA in wsop v royal his quad ACE gave KJ the royal,The guy got free entry into wsop the following year if i remember.

Odds of that? If my luck was that grim (and generally it ain't great) I think I'd make a point of not gambling - as a recovering alcoholic makes a point of not drinking or going to places where alcohol is served. Could have been a divine message. It don't do to tempt providence (further) ?

Quite . . . . the odds of quad aces running into a royal flush are phenominal, certainly more than 1/50. I read a story once of a guy being on the business end of something similar, a hand like quad kings. He wrote a marker for several £000s he couldn't afford as a call to a guy who'd hit his royal on the river. Life changing stuff. If you believe in divine providence then there must be a message in there?
