SKY POKER NEW STUDIO SHOWS

edited February 2012 in Poker Chat
Just wondered what others thought of the format of the new shows? To be honest I feel there is too much chat and not enough action, too many on the sofa!! Seems to have lost the banter between the likes of Tikay and Orford. Also where's Trevor gone? Much prefer seeing more card hands and not the legs of everyone!!!

Personally I think they've got a pretty perfect balance. I think there should be a good amount of chat, as much as I love the game of poker, I don't wanna see 5 hours of non stop hands, you need some entertainment to break it up, and why bother having presenters like Orford (who are funny but not experts) if it's just gonna be a hardcore analysis of hands.

But yeah I find it very interesting and offers a good insight when Tikay and Carlo tell their stories. I think the shows target audience is largely recreational players and if they made it just hand analysis, they would lose alot of viewers.

Bring back Orfords Disastermind, Trevial Pursuit, phone in competitions and random competitions like 'Trev's going on holiday to columbia so give us an interesting fact about it' (which I won lol)

Disclaimer: Obviously no-one will agree with me :)

Too much poker, not enough poker, too much poker talk, not enough poker talk, not enough humour and off topic talk, too much humour and off topic talk.

This is why you can't please everybody.

My only critism is there's been no Carlo sound-bites during the hands. For some reason they always cracked me up

    "HOSE ME DOWN!"

"Poker is a never ending game"

I for one am really liking the new shows.  Most players on this site are recreational players who are looking to make improvements in their game.  To this end, the added focus on anaylse is really pleasing and I agree the likes of Stuart and scotty provide excellent advice and do so in a very easy to understand way, which as someone who does not keep pace with a lot of poker lingo, is nice to have.

    Good work Sky Poker

Thanks for the feedback. The changes to the channel will be ongoing, so hopefully show by show you will seen even more improvements.

The more our players get involved the better, so please send in your questions, hand ID's, etc

I was a little worried after a couple of the new shows, but I think its going really well now.

Good mixture of cash and tournament hands shown, high and low stakes action as well. And still managing to show a sequence of tourney hands so they are in context.

Less competitions etc when you have guests, and when its only presenter/analyst the competitions are poker related.

Our analysts are doing really well, plenty of in depth stuff. And as they are gaining confidence, there is some good banter too.

Doing a fine job trying to please everyone !

yeah totally agree  the shows are brilliant, great guests and the presenters and analysts are doin a great job

I did put on another thread think it would be great to bring back the telephone guest say for example on a sunday night but just an idea.

    keep up good work sky

I seem to never get my hands shown :( I always try to find decent hands that have a decent talking about with regards to the line I took but no luck yet...

    Other than that, good stuff.

    OP said.....

    "....prefer seeing more card hands....."

As I said before last Tuesday's Show, if you send us plenty of hands, we will show plenty of hands. It's interactiveeeeeeeeeeeeee

I am on tonight's Show, with Mr R Orford, & our Guest will be James Atkin, aka "MC", the rapper chappie, so get the hands sent in, & we will show as many as we can.

There will also be one x 1 hour section tonight which has had a complete makeover, & be totally different to previously.

Many thanks to all for the feedback.

The Show Thread for tonight is HERE
