PLO8 - Junk hand in big blind flops nut straight on rainbow board

edited February 2012 in The Poker Clinic
Not a clue how to play this one, didn't want to go crazy with this hand but probably lost value too. What should I do here?

I suck at PLO8, so take this advice accordingly

At lower levels prob raise flop. Definitely raise turn for value from draws esp low draws

Dont mind calling the flop, by raising you are turning you'r hand face up, but mainly a lot of card on the turn will poss kill you'r hand since you do not have re-draws. When the Ah peels you need to raise, flushes will call, kjqx hands will call, so will all low combo hands. Raise it to around 200-pot, idealy you would want a low card to come on the river <7non heart as any other card will rob you of the nut high, as played river bet is fine multi way.

      Ok now my opinion FWIW.

Flop: Perfect like your flat her because it helps build the pot without committing yourself.

Turn: This is a great card for you because of all the draws it brings in especially the Lo draws and people will pay a lot chasing these to get lucky and then only split the pot. What i would like to see here is a small raise, maybe min or even up to 60. The main thing to do here is build the pot up and make sure we do not lose any customers getting this to HU now would not be great as we would lose river value.

River: Ok with this card we know exactly where we are. We have a lock on the Hi and pretty certain to have not got the Lo. So we are very confident of getting half the pot. The most important thing to do now is get called in as many places as possible to boost our winnings. For that reason your river bet was way too big and forced out all the marginal hands. A river bet in this situation of about 100-120 would have been a lot better because it would have encouraged wider calls and therfore increased our half share. This could have been a bit higher if the turn had been raised.

It is an unusual aspect of PLO8 that we very often are in a situation of underbetting to encourage multiple callers. This is mainly when we have a lock down on the Hi and want several people to chase draws especially the Lo. Split pot games do not play well HU and getting to this in a hand is not a great idea unless we have major scoop potential.
