Bounty hunter!! For or against

edited February 2012 in Poker Chat
I know they are popular on sky but tbh i really dont like them,I have not played many on this site occasionally do the £33 thurs tournament but very rarely. The reason for this discussion is there are so many b/h torns and imo not enough deepstack or freezout games on here now.

Yes the high roller looks great but for most its to much money so why cant sky do a mid high roller say £25.00?

Please sky try and do more deepstack tournaments ranging from 2.20-25.00..

Can you add a "don't care" option please

    For.

Love them, the best bounty tournaments on any online site. Very beatable and very profitable, good fun too.

My only gripe is the harsh 15% rake charged at the £2 and £5 buy-ins.

The players who don't come on this forum are voting with their money, the bounty hunter tournaments always attract much bigger fields than freezeouts.

Coupled with the fact that the £3.30 ones are 10% rake, 15% rake on the others, especially £5.75, is ridiculous IMO. Already decided I'm never playing a £5.75 BH on here unless they become £5.50 BH's.

Anyway, I don't mind BH's, although I prefer something with fortnightly blind increases where everyone plays super tight waiting for aces and I just steal the blinds every hand :o

i love them and find it easy to make my buy in after 3 bountys anything after that is a bonus. Always nice playing a torny knowing you havnt had to pay for it and your still could cash on top, win win for me.

To be honest I much prefer regular tournies where the top prizes aren't bled away.

Not this old chestnut again. Every two or three weeks someone puts one of these up. I'm FOR Bounty Hunters. There are plenty of non-bounty hunters and you also have STT's to play.

Prize pool for them is lol. I only bother with the roller and maybe the main event now and again, theres nothing in between £22 main events and £110 rollers. More £30-£50 tourneys plz

I dont play many MTT's at all but i do enjoy a hit out at BH's. They are good fun and people tend to stck off fairly light especially at lower stakes. The rakes a bit tight though and thats why i dont bother with them too much. I prefer the deepstacks as i prefer cash as a rule and sitting deeper just feels more homely.

I put down loathe... it's a bit of a strong word but I don't like them so that was my only option.

However, I am very aware that they are massively popular and it doesn't bother me in the slightest that there are lots running, just don't play them.

Why would you need to get rid of a BH to make way for a mid stake Deepy ?

BH's are popular, which is why there are so many.

Do I prefer a good deeper structure ? Yes.

Do i play the odd BH for something different ? Yes.

dont forget because of the greed players have in these the field thins out so much quicker than a normal mtt prob twice as fast and if you know how to play them cos there def is a stratagy to how you play them and i wouldnt say play them as a normal mtt or you wont do that well. Ive been pretty profitable on these in the past but i have to be in the mood for it to be fair. But can understand why they are like chalk and cheese for some people.

I am not a fan of them Jim but when you see the amount of runners Bounty Hunter tourneys get then i well understand why Sky have them.

I NEVER MENTIONED GETTING RID OF THEM DID I?

MY POINT IS SURELY SKY CAN DO MID STAKE D/S ASWELL AS THESE B/H.

I DID SAY THEY WERE POPULAR BUT TBH FOR ME AND IMO I DONT LIKE THEM.

JUST WOULD BE NICE TO SEE BETTER DS POKER TORNS ON HERE.

I don't understand why you mentioned them then.

Why not just ask for some new deepstacks instead ?

I like satellites to BH tourneys. I know, that wasn't the question but without BHs you can't have satellites to them. Generally if you can satellite in, get 1 bounty and your in profit. Anything else is a bonus.

I don't like buying direct in to bounties because a good portion of the money goes in bounties. OK, obvious satement but when I play BHs I don't play for bounties; I play them as if they were normal tournaments. Maybe I play them wrong however, I'd rather buy in direct to a normal tournament and get paid a better a cash prize.

I'd say lets have more guaranteed biggish to big prize bounties with lots of satellites.

I'd agree with some of the previous posts as well; BHs tend to be softer tournaments due to people's greed for the bounties.
