Thursday's live show with James, tikay & Simon Trumper (***OFFICIAL THREAD***)

edited March 2012 in Poker Chat

Some nice and easy questions for Simon...

1) Any funny stories about Tikay please?
2) Does it annoy you when Tikay keeps shouting 'FLOOR!' when he plays?
3) Whats' the hardest ruling you've ever had to make?

From 7pm, expect five hours of live poker discussion and analysis on channel 865. The final two hours will be simulcast on Sky Sports 4 / Sky Sports HD 4.

From 8pm, tikay and I will be joined by our special guest Simon 'Aces' Trumper.

Simon was one of the original Late Night Poker line-up - and was the champion of Season 2. He topped the European Omaha rankings in 2004 and finished 5th in the $10,000 PLO Championship at the 2005 WSOP. Over the last 16 years, he's accrued lifetime tournament earnings of $1.2m, but he's probably best known to the Sky Poker community as the Live Poker Director and host of Dusk Till Dawn - the home of the SPT Grand Final.

Questions for Simon should be e-mailed to skyopen@bskyb.com, tweeted using the hashtag #SkyPokerTV, or posted in this forum thread.

In Sky Poker School at 9pm, we'll be discussing playing the bubble in MTTs. Please contribute your thoughts on this topic. We also want you to send in your Hand IDs from the £15k Sky Sports Bounty Hunter.

Oh, and here's a fascinating fact about Simon: he used to be a professional Robert De Niro lookalike!
    Trumper

    De Niro

Do you know any fascinating facts about famous poker pros?

For that matter, can you suggest any other well-known players who could potentially make a living impersonating A-list celebrities? I may consider awarding a prize to the best poker lookalike ;-)

A reminder that the man they call 'Aces' will be located next to tikay on the Sky Poker sofa for four hours this evening.

    Questions please!

Anyone interested in hearing Simon's version of the so-called "Barry Greenstein Incident?"

Obviously, with Viva Las Vegas 2012 now officially launched, we're happy to answer any questions you may have about the promotion...or Vegas in general!
  • edited March 2012

    Vegas, babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
  • edited March 2012
When you first started playing, could you have imagined that a club like DTD ever being possible?

When you play live now, do you get irritated by how badly poker is run at other venues in the UK?

Where do you see live poker being in the next 5 years...any new directions possible or do you think its gonna be more of the same?

Good evening to all three gentlemen. I will be watching tonight as always, and hopefully playing the Main and Mini. I am so pumped about Viva Las Vegas. I would like to say a big congratulations to all of you at Sky Poker for such a great promotion. The sats look great with a real chance for players of all bankrolls to qualify for the biggest game in Poker. I'm so glad the structure of the sats has been so carefully planned and thought through. It means that small bankrolled players can play the Micro Sats for £2.50 and its like a mini MTT with decent clocks and a good starting stack. Well done to all involved and keep up the stellar work. Best wishes. Shaun the Villa fan in Bham

A Vegas question for Simon please.

If you were a TV poker 'expert' and went to Vegas for a few weeks on holiday but failed to cash in a single tournament, would you be embarassed?

Tikay can answer that too if he wants to :)

Off out tonight so will probably be watching on Sky+.

Easy question for Simon - Top tip for someone playing live for the first time?
  • edited March 2012

What do you think of the standard of play in Vegas generally?

Is it easier to spot the fish in Vegas cash games? (tourists, businessmen? etc)

Have a good show, James and Tikay,

To Simon, is there good enough business case to open a DTD in Edinburgh?

Hope so.  I am proud that DTD exists in the UK, such a great venue.

    Sigh.

No need, no need at all.

I'm not even sure I have cashed in a Live Tourney since then, either!

Wow - I was dead excited when I opened up Twitter Today and Sky had Tweeted that Simon was going to be on the show.

    Questions or Simon.
Do you still enjoy playing poker as much now you are Poker Director & Host of DTD?
What sort of person would be best suited to be a card dealer?
Are you allowed to play Poker at your own casino? or do you have to play elswhere?

DTD is one of the best run Casinos I have been too Simon, so keep up the good work and look forward to seeing you at the SPT Grand Final.

Great show.  I think Simon reminds me of The Hood out of Thunderbirds.  I hope I haven't offended him.
