struggling towards the end of competitions

I have just been playing in the £100 guranteed games, there were 85 runners! I was playing sensible and good solid poker. At the break there was 12 players left and i was stacked 3rd. However i started to panic knowing i was close to gettin paid (top 10). I then lost so many chips and fund myself scared to play hands? I ended up finishing 10th. Is this because i am in experienced? how can i overcome this?

Hi Mick

The thing is you need to forget about the money, concentrate on ur hands, find something else to think about, you need to be a bit more aggresive, dont forget they are probs nervous as well, but dont go over the top you still use position, if everyone checks, the likelyhood is they have nothing, raise to find out where you are.

Good advice Barry. I have the same problem although shorter stacked generally when I get to final stages.

Tonight I won a 2quid deepstack an put it down to what Barry says about position and I entered a 1 pound sit an go keeping me occupied on something else

spot on guys, when in playing in tourni i tend to look on ebay, keeps me focased on the hand rather on what i could win

I'm exactly the same.

I manage to play all MTT's sensibly and always above average until it comes to around the last 20 runners or so.

I personally think it's due to im to much of a chicken to risk all my chips on a hand, that i should push. Obviouly not all the time, but my game tends to slip near the end of MTT's

you need to play the exact same way that got you that far in the mtt,

 it is like driving a car m8y ,


the more times you jump in the front seat and drive the easier it will get ,
