Sine i been on sky poker about year and a half now i always seem to do ok during the week playing poker grinding away in mtts and cash building my bankroll but when it comes to fridays well weekends i never seem to run good or win i cant remember my last winning weekend i know poker is variance just find it strange i play my hands the same way etc is this because i play the regs during the week and they respect each others game and play a solid game of poker but weekends the recreational pokers play like to splash the cash and why not have fun but cant seem to do well against these kind of players just calling bets so on and get lucky on river and play crazy hands which i would never put them on and lose my buy in with big pair seems like i do better against the regs on this site that know how to fold and dnt play crazy hey im all for having fun at the tables i think i might cut down to playing during the week as that is where i seem to do ok at is this mad to think this or am i just being silly and psycholigical thing thoughts please from steve

Its the weekend
Strange happenings on tables i was on, all ins being called with 33 on q j k 10 7 boards etc
All ijns not called on A Q K 10 J boards with no poss flushes etc.
Just think you get people who havent a clue at the weekend so you get donked more,, or if youre lucky get chipped up easily,, im in the first category, not the 2nd.

There will probably be lots of reasons for this - including variance, psychological etc...

But one thing's for sure, if you take the game you use against regulars, and use it against more casual players, it won't necessarily produce the same results.

Casual players vary greatly in how they play, how they think, and what they are trying to achieve. More frequent players often have greater similarities to their games, and similar mindsets.

Each casual player is an individual problem to solve. You won't automatically make money just because someone is playing too many hands, calling too much, and gives off bet sizing tells. You will only make money if you exploit each of these things.

i would normallly agree with you here iduc. since being on the site people have always said about friday and sat nite being the night to "fill ya boots". but for me it just doesnt happen. last nite mind i drank less decided to loosen up my game and blow me i had a blinder. 3 x nl30 i was  a couple of bins up and on 1 table i had 7!! which was the most i ever had. to top it off i went on 2 xnl50 and doubled up on both (1 double up on hursty).

different approach needed on weekends thats for sure, like jakally says, you do have to adapt!

If u think that some of the regulars at the level you play 'respect' ur game then you should be opening tonnes wider and bashing them about to take advantage of this.

Also casual players will be easier to beat than good regs so it makes no sense really....I dunno maybe u r playing different....

As jackally says, poker can be about playing the man as much as it is about playing your cards. Also, some players will have been drinking and trying to apply logic to a drunk players thinking just isn't going to happen. Adjust your game accordingly, so triple barrel bluffs,floating etc won't work cos he can't see past the pair in his hand and milk them when you do have a hand.

To echo what Jakally says, it is a different game againts loose, often drunk players just looking to have a good time. I think the clue lies in your statement that you play the "same" game against both sets of players.

I tend to tighten up as you know there is a good chance that you will always get at least one caller to any raise you make, often the whole table when the beer is flying on a Saturday night!

Good luck this weekend and Sporny's idea of getting drunk with the rest of them sounds good to me )

i know where u r coming from on this one mate.

i had the exact same problem a little while ago.

so what i did was;

stopped playing 4 a couple of those fri/sat nights

or if i did play,just played some dym,s to get away from cash.

there is no point in playing when u think u r going to lose

b 4 u have even started.....

so u need to break that mind-set,

just as i did!!!

don't over think it, adjust - look for weaknesses and exploit -
In general you are probably thinking all you have to do is sit down with casual players and you will just win - work harder in looking for ways to take their money and do not expect it to fall into your lap
Even though they are not very good, you still have to look for holes

plus casual players do all sorts of crazy stuff, the variation is quite extreme.

btw you can do all this and play perfect poker but some drunken bum will still hit miracles on you and make ridic calls and take all your money - but that's why we love poker )

sorry goldnballz dnt laugh or take mick i have gramma problems people have said this before i cant help it im abit dyslexic im a wise person my m8es think im quite bright just not good at full stops n commas and where to put them in a long title sounds stupid but im kinda thick when it comes to doing it
