edited March 2012 in Poker Chat
Long time has passed since the anouncements that some improvements will come to our software but silence has fell all over Skypoker...

Any news? Come on Sky...

Resizable tables are a MUST...Bring it on...

    +1

I hate stretchy tables though, mini view is so much better.....

Will the 'mini view' tab/option still be there on the new tables?

Don't wanna have to mess about getting all tables the same size etc manually when clicking mini view does it automatically for you..........

I think when you stretch it down to a certain size it will switch to the mini view mode.   Don't know about the mini view mode still being there. I'd imagine so.

I don't reckon there are any improvements. We have been told they are coming since before the first UKOPS. Since then the only software tweak has been to add in the advertising whilst we are playing. Nothing new that improves the game play for customers, just a few tweaks to get more cash from us. Instead of spending the budget on a studio that looks remarkably similar to the last, maybe they should have sorted out the software first. I'll probably get shot down by the guard dogs of Sky Poker again, but if no-one says it, then it won't get said.lol

People have seen and tested out some of the new updates at SPT's.

You do realise how much backend testing any software updates will need to go through don't you ?

I'm sure you would all be the first to complain if they rushed the updates out and the whole lot went pear shaped.

Can I just point out that Acidman27 is not a Guard Dog of Sky Poker... or indeed any form of Guard Dog :O)

The above may not be true as I have never met the gentleman....  or gentledog...as the case may be ;o)

I have no problem with people getting all their ducks in a row before going live. My only complaint, if you had read my post correctly, was that the Software Improvements were announced before the FIRST UKOPS. Why if you know there is backend testing to be done would you announce that it is coming. I'll announce that my hotel on Mars is opening soon, I just have loads of rocket testing to do first.lol

Since when did they say which changes would be coming when ?

They said some changes are coming and some have been implemented already. Others like the resizable tables have always been forthcoming with no set date as far as i'm aware.

Alot of work will go into any updates and for a site that's not got as many techies working on it as say one of the big sites it's bound to take longer for such overhauls to take place.

It did come out a bit angry didn't it.

I didn't mean it to read like that but having said that I have to deal with things like this daily.

People want everything this minute and then complain when it doesn't work properly. Have a little patience.

Sorry Acidman, I wasn't trying to imply that you were coming across angry, just making a wee joke about it not being s Sky Suit that had replied.

I thought you're reply came across very well especially to non techie peeps, like me ;o)

After a short disconnection, surely it should be possible for me to make it back to a cash table without losing all the cash I have bet so far?
  • edited March 2012
i thought i heard tk mention smaller tables were coming 1st or 2nd of april?

  • edited March 2012
It's not all about the tables... The software needs to become lighter also...

I am mainly a cash player that's why I am concentrating on resizable tables... I don't know what tour players would like to see improved in the software...
  • edited March 2012
I could be wrong but I'm gonna say it's VERY unlikely that Tikay would have given a definitive date for when the resizeable tables would be here when he's an intelligent man and knows a million and one things can happen between now and then.

Just did a quick test and using the download client.

I opened 4 fully seated 6-max cash tables and it used a pretty constant 15% CPU, 400MB of real memory and 600MB of virtual memory.

    Then using Firefox 10.

I opened 4 fully seated 6-max cash tables and it fluctuated between 15% and 24% CPU, 470MB of real memory and 870MB of virtual memory.

That's unlikely to change dramatically with any new software updates unless they start again from scratch. It will still likely to be using flash and it's pretty resource heavy for most things. An option to cut back on animations would be a nice option to cut CPU usage but it's still going to be a memory hog.

The problem is: people have been been asking for these things for over a year... We have a right to be impatient.

That would explain a lot then. Not uncommon for these things to take 6-24+ months from scratch depending on the size of the team. Designing and devloping a full client takes time.
  • edited March 2012
Good they're starting from scratch so we should actually see some considerable changes rather than just another cup-holder added.

I guess it depends on which one, if any, Sky Adam manages to get to.

I didn't see a demo as such at Luton, just a mock-up of what it will be like.

Playing more than 3 tables for me uses cpu usage fluctuating between 90-100% with periods of 30 seconds or so at 100% - which isn't great when I want to multitable about 16 tables!!!! Can manage about 7 before it becomes unplayable.

Aparently it's my high spec laptop or 50mb internet connection at fault blah blah blah blah blah blah.................................................................................................................................................

I play 10 tables at another site and 8 to another one, so I don't think there ia problem with my laptop.

If Sky wants me to tranfer my game here, they must make their product more attractible. I hear from TK that revenues and profits are on top, traffic breaks every record. It's not all about the promotions and how to make more money by the players.

Stop creating new promotions for a while and make a better software.

    an i7 thingy,
    from component warehouse .co.uk
    for £580.
    i have played 13 tables,
    or should say tried to.
there was no lagging or problems at all.
    "just saying"

it should  pay for itself in no time.

Creating new promotions won't be hindering developing the software changes.
