A Gripe About Hands Shown on TV

edited March 2012 in Poker Chat
was playing nl300 last night. I know it was on a TV table, which means that hands can be shown on the channel 865. My gripe is that hands were shown mere minutes after they were played, and the same live session was in progress. It was a little like having everyone's hands openly shown at the end of each hand. This gives too much information at the table.

A hand was shown in which I'd fired 3 bullets at a bluff, and then my opponent pushed me off the pot (looked like brilliant play, until he says in the chat box, he'd misread his hand and thought he had a straight). Given the sums of money involved in nl300, I think it may be better to have a longer delay between hands played and hands shown on TV.

Just my opinion.

Why do the sums of money matter?  Why should nl300 be on more of a delay than say nl20?

It seems obvious that since the format change the producers want to fill an empty table rather than go to a TV table in progress, probably to allow anyone who wants to be on the TV a fair chance to get on as opposed to the old system, in which people such as myself were heavily criticised here for covering all of the tables.

As a result there is no history and if they are going to play hands they will be ones that have only just been played.  If you haven't noticed this or joined the dots yet then I'm surprised, I don't think it really needs pointing out on the TV as it's pretty obvious, but to their credit they have always said 'moments ago'.

It's a TV table, and you're going to get what you get.  You got blown off my Lol_Raise, I donked my stack off to Peg.  They got shown on TV and made us feel a bit embarrassed.  Take it on the chin and move on.

The fact that the hands are shown so quickly is a big positive imo.

Would like to see more hands though.

Also the automated hand thing that was trialled a few months ago, is there any sign of this becoming a regular feature?

I think the delay they have is fine.

Everyone knows the rules with TV tables and thats what make them so popular when they are live on the show....would you have played 300nl if it wasn't gonna be televised?

Agree with Tommy that the sums shouldn't matter at all as you should be rolled for the level that you play so it should make no difference at all.

Yes still going ahead but making some changes to the console as the system cannot handle it at the moment and keeps crashing. The console was original built for The Open only with 300 runners, so it struggles with everything else. Aiming to get this all going again by the end of the summer.... dont quote me on that ;)

Have no idea why you are complaining.

It is always very clearly stated by the presenter 'if you want your hands analysed on TV 'minutes' after they have been played then get on master cash table x right now'

Just stand if you feel uncomfortable. Everyone is well aware hands will be shown so theres no real problem. You just need to use that information to your advantage.

i was joking about misreading the hand tbh. i did like the fact that they mentioned they were going to look at hands on MC16 and within 5mins the game was full from starting off empty

They tell you on TV that the hands will be shown, they don't promise a massive delay.

It's great that they don't either, makes it much better to watch

I was pretty sure this was the case. It was a good call.

As someone who likes to go on the TV tables myself I am happy for the hands to be anaylised straight away as it can be used to my advantage.

If im playing bad, i can get paid more. Im im being nitty i can get bluffs through more.

I much prefer the hands coming through straight away because it gives a more accurate reflection of whats going on at the table in general rather than just picking out the fancy big pots

And Graham, that multi street oop bluff with air is a great thing to be shown because you can use similar line/sizing in future hands against those players with a reasonable hand and get called off light and get paid.

A bluff in the chat box, works better than one on the table.

    +1

I have to say that I played a cash game on Master Cash 3 and was delighted to get feedback from Scotty77 within 10 minutes of the hands being played.  So one of the players was "at it" and it showed up on TV.  Yeah everyone at the table was aware of that.  Free advise from a much better player.  All  I can say is Thanks Sky

I knew LOL was pulling my leg in the chat box. As it happens, I think showing my hands helped, as I got called by a few questionabel hands, and turned a big loss into a small profit. I had no idea they were on TV until someone told me.

Just sat at the right place at the right time.
