I'm confused
Had this moved to Area 51 for some reason.
I wasn't complaing just making an observation!

I know you weren't complaining, but take a look at what you wrote. You are putting the reason for not seeing many big hands down to a change tp the software of the RNG. Do you really believe this? It seems nonsensical to me, like walking down the road for twenty minutes, noticing you haven't seen any red cars drive by and then concluding that companies must have stopped producing red cars. It just happens sometimes, funny runs happen.
I stand by the move, that thread was more than Area 51 worthy and adds nothing to the General Poker Chat forum.
It's less likely to be the RNG and more likely to be variance. Last night/Last week you were hitting them, Tonight and tomorrow you may not.

Also I don't know why this has been reposted, I was monitoring the original thread and would have given a full and frank reply there if asked and given a little more time to reply. I'll leave this here in GPC for a little while so everyone can be happy there is no Illuminati wearing their cloaks and cowls, living in their dark tower ready to swoop at any post with the letters RNG in it, then when we're all happy this is off to Area 51 and the original will be deleted.
If anyone disagrees with this please PM me or post here and I'll be happy to discuss this with you.
I cant speak for anyone else but I think most people in this section might not want such a silly post like this in the general section.
I think you mean negative variance, but you must embrace it, because she has a twin sister - positive variance.

And again, I'm sorry to say this, but variance of both varieties is part of poker, whether it be Online, or Live. We can hardly blame variance on the RNG, it happens in Live Poker, too!
Who do we give credit to when we run well? Ourselves, presumably, rather than the very same RNG which we blame when we run bad?
I feel a little for TommyD here, he has done his best to handle it well.
But it really is not right that every time a player has a bad run, it is suddenly the fault of Sky Poker, or the RNG, is it? How that work?
I hope the twin sister arrives very shortly. She's perfectly lovely, you know.

If someone has a rational well reasoned argument that contains questioning the RNG then from where I sit it stays in GPC. In my opinion this thread doesn't meet that criteria.
Which board to post on?
Knowing which board a particular post belongs on should be simple enough. General Poker Chat is general chat about poker. I know, it’s really that simple. If something is general chat but with no poker, it will find itself moved to another, more relevant part of the Community. That’s not to say it is ‘relegated’, it’s just moved to a section where you’ll probably get more engagement anyway.
As it states, when we move posts we are not in any way "relegating" them, we are just housekeeping the forum to keep relevant posts in the right places. Area51 is no less important than GPC but I agree with ModTommy that anything that highlights trends, strange occurences etc is an Area51 topic, that board is meant for the "observations"

I think it needs saying, because so many seem to become fixated about it.
The "RNG" as it is generically known is a piece of software coding, or more precisely, lots of pieces of coding.
It does not think, see or hear. It has no emotions, & is incapable of liking, or disliking, anyone. It does not & cannot distinguish between individual players, or IP addresses.
It does not have moods, good or bad, & it does not tilt. It does not even think, it can't.
It does not care a hoot who wins or loses, because it cannot think.
It is a piece of software code, totally inert.
It is never touched, messed around with, or adjusted. It is a simple piece of software. It does not generate profits or losses, or any revenue at all - revenue comes from cash game rake, & Tourney fees.
It does not even have a twin sister.
Here's the analogy.
A guy I know is a football fanatic, & he sees things through one eye, which is a biased eye, because he hates his team losing, so he dreams up the most bizarre excuses when they lose.
Recently, his team got well & truly thumped, 5-1. Pretty comprehensive, you'd think, yes?
Nope. Guess what he blamed that 5-1 defeat on? A female linesman! I kid you not.
We win, we lose, but we are all accountable for our own actions. We are deluding ourselves if we blame a female linesman, or the RNG.
I blame the twin sister.
Now go and stand in the corner of the classroom, & dont move until the teacher has told you .... lolol...
