Thank You!!

edited December 2009 in The Sky Poker Tour

Hi everyone.

Just wanted to give a big thank you to everyone at the Manchester SPT who made it such a great event.

Believe me no-one was more surprised than me to pick up that trophy at 2am this morning!

This was my FIRST live win, my FIRST live final table and for it to be in my hometown made it all the more special.

From being down to 7000 chips to pipping 'Vegas' Dan heads up was a completely surreal experience!

We all know none of these events are possible without the sterling work of the Sky Poker team and thanks go to Tikay, Rich, Ed and all the production crew for the fantastic efforts they all put in.

I must also say thanks to all the players especially on the final table who suffered a bad beat here or there and took it with good grace.

Big up to Mogsy & Cazzie who helped make it a great weekend and all the fellow players / supporters who were routing for the underdog! And of course the 1 and only (thank god) razorkev!

The Sky Poker community is as much about friendship and enjoyment as it is about simply playing the game and that is something pretty special and should be cherished by us all whatever your level of ability.

And finally, yes GiGi (my wife) you can get a quote for the wooden flooring now!!

See you on the tables!

Dave Bryan
(David36)

PS Just off to polish the trophy and make sure it wasn't all a dream!!

    Hi Dave,

    Many congrats buddy!!!.

If there was ever a deserving winner due to one of the best comebacks i've certainly ever seen in poker, it would be your good self.

Also without sounding regionally biased, i'm glad a fellow local lad won the tournament lol!!!!

Seriously though it was a great final table and like i've said in one of my posts, the final 9 was a strong line up and for me didn't matter how big or small your chipstack was, it's was anybodys for the taking and you sealed the deal and won!!!

Little bit gutted i didn't make the top 3 but i'm over the moon with 5th place and my £1,050 prize and i thought the whole tournament and especially the final table was played with a tremendous spirit which was fantastic!!!

Hope to see you again very soon at another live SPT tourney!!

    All the best,

    Craig

My only regret from yesterday was being stood next to your wife when you won.....i'm still deaf in one ear ;)

    Very well played indeed.

Also want to say thanks to Tikay, Richard and Ed as well - the highlight of the day for me was shaking Tikay's hand - the guy is a legend imo

Many Congrats Dave, it must feel fantastic to take it down in your own town! You will remember your winning hand (99) for ages.

I also echo everything you say about a fantasticly well run event. Massive thanks to Rich (Mr SPT) for a brilliantly managed first leg and of course to tikay for his brilliant and fun commentary throughout and for all his, and the rest of the Sky Poker Teams hard work..

It was a fun weekend and i cant wait until the next one!

    One final thank you,

To Kenny Samson.. Ex Arsenal and England legend. He was on my starting table and made my day.. Very friendly, chatty and funny and a pleasure to play poker with...

His kind invitation to tour the Emirates stadium was appreciated, but i declined gracefully.

Well done everyone and in particular Dave. Gregg why on earth did you not take the free tour ;)

    Greg

Ur right, it was a pleasure to play (and knock out) a boyhood hero of mine Kenny Sansom. Such a nice guy. But how come he offered you a tour of the emirates, and not me (a fellow gooner). Did he really take the beat that badly. My opinion of him has now changed....only joking....he will always be an Arsenal and England legend.

Can I just reiterate wat everyone else has said about the great day they had in Manchester. It was a pleasure to be part of such a well run tournament. Tikay, Richard and Ed were all fantastic and the rest of the Sky Poker crew can take great satisfaction in making it so memorable for us all... ( I hope everyone agrees) .

A final well done to Dave, a worthy winner if ever I saw one. Thats the way to play short stacked poker m8.

Hope to see you all at the next live event. Will be trying my best to qualify.

    Chow for now

Very very well done Dave, made up for you!

Was laughing at your comment re your wife's quote for the flooring, I had already told Bromley04 that I wanted a new kitchen if he won lol!

We are already trying to rearrange some stuff in Jan to try and get to the Newcastle leg if we can qualify!

Top day, we are still buzzing!

I'd like to add my congrats yet again!  You proved that you can win with a small stack and I think you are a worthy winner, and that's without taking anything away from any other players, final table or otherwise.  I had the pleasure of playing on the same tables as you for the last 2 or 3 hours and you played with great dignity, even when my JJ beat yiour AK to keep me in!  You were a true "gent".  Personally I was disappointed with my final table play, I missed about the only opportunity I had, but heyho! that doesn't matter, I exceeded my expectations.  The real bonus was meeting up with a group of people I think of as "friends", some old and some new, such as you.
The day was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end and for that we must thank the Sky team, the Casino and their staff, the players and the spectators.  The camaraderie was there for everybody to witness and enjoy.
I'm sure, like me, there will be many players itching to sit down at the qualifiers for the next one in Newcastle.  I think Sky have a unique product with their "Tour", probably the envy of their competitors.
It is perhaps a little unfair to pick on any individual when we say our thank yous, but I just have to mention Tikay.  He is an incredably enthusiastic guy who, as far as I can witness, is held in very high esteem by everybody, they threw the mould away after he was made.
    See you on the tables.

    Gordon Parton  (Dollie)

PS  I am sorry that I was a disappointement to 1 person, who expected me to be female, single and under 30!  What a shock that must have been!

    Many congratulations Dave,

Unfortunately I couldn't stay to watch the final table and had to travel back across the pennines in the fog, but it was a great read on the live updates to see you come back from such a short stack.

Congratulations to everyone who made the cash and the final table and will hopefully see you on the tournament tables, including Primo on Sunday.

    Cheers

    Stewart
