Shall I quit while ahead or keep playing?

In Response to Shall I quit while ahead or keep playing?:
So, am not a good poker player, I just pay it for fun. But I seem to be doing pretty well. I have won something like £70 quid in 25 games or so. Maybe more, since I played cash games too. Basically, I have won 3 tournaments (one freeroll Won 22 quid) one bounty hunter 2.30p I finished 3rd that time with 12 bounties got cash of something like £20 quid. And I did a satellite for £1.60 I came 3rd and made it into the Semi Final 12k sky sports bounty hunter, and then I won the Semi Final I came first into the 12k bounty hunter for tonight yet to play. I've come 2nd and 3rd in some other tournaments too not worth mentioning since I didn't win anything. Shall I give up poker since I am not winning big money or keep playing and maybe buy into higher priced tables? I'm a grinner basically i don't have money to throw away. And I HATE losing, even at a computer game. Shall I not think about buying into bigger tables and keep doing this, hopefully win about 2/3k tonight and cash out and stick to free-rolls or it is worth bankrolling myself after the big win of 5k or more? into bigger cash games?

Actually I am really determined to knock a few big fish a peg or two down, they are too cocky, so the real pleasure is knocking them out, but winning is good too, winning donkeys is not bad too. I thank I am getting addicted to this poker, its just all there for you to take it.

Poker is a very wierd game. You are at the mercy of luck far more than you think. If you have had a few good results recetly then good for you. This is probably the result of positive varience rather than anything else. In a cash game for example you edge over other players is pretty small, even if you are loads better than the other players at the table. A good cash player might hope to win on average 3-5 big blinds every 100 hands for example.

This means that while you might have a long run of making as much as 20-30BBs/100 you can expect to have sessions where you loose 300-400 big blinds.

As such it is important to practice good bankroll management. Some say 20 buy-ins for cash, 40 buy-ins for SnGs and 100 buy-ins for MTTs. so if you have £100 you should be playing NL4 cash, £2 SnGs and £1 MTTs. But basically you don't ever want to be in a possition where getting dealt KK vs AA or having your opponent bink a rediculous two-outter on the river means losing a substantial part of your bank roll.

I would not recomend playing higher stakes games for several reasons. First the players will be of a higher standard than you have played so far. Second You might play amazing, destroy all players who take you on and still get a bad beat and loose all your money

So, I've been playing on titan poker, they gave me £100 quid for free, and I've been winning good money, I met this one person he told me he was really wealthy in real life so he didn't care about losing £20 quid to me, I don't know what got into him after that he kept buying in with a larger bank roll and bluffing and calling my rasies and trying to bluff me on the river all in £300 quid I had four 99s. so i came with 100 quid finihsed with £2,590 or, then last night lost £600 to a to srt flush when I had flush A high. that was so stupid going all in on the river, thinking he was bluff.
