Keeping the faith?

edited April 2012 in The Poker Clinic
Can someone please tell how to do it beacause for the last 5 months on sky everytime i play i get beat by these bad callers / hands hitting there flops / turns / rivers ?
i even had notes on caller, so i knew he was going to call and even when we get to the river im thinking he's probably got a k but knowing how my hands go on sky hes got the 2 diamonds but i cant fold it.
Im really starting to wonder whats the point and poker for me is becoming unenjoyable getting beat time and time again by rubbish.

Raise bigger pre flop. Once he's limped, you wanna be making it about 40p wth AK. Obviosuly if he calls, he flops a flush (which is about 50/1) and you're never gonna get him to fold.

It's so hard to put someone on a flopped flush but when he shoves the river, you are only ever gonna be splitting the pot at best.

I would probably bet more on the flop and more on the turn. In this case obviously it won't make much difference but the other times this flop comes, you have AK and they have a flush draw, or  Ax or KQ or lots of other hands, you wanna be getting the max.

In a strange way, this is a great outcome for you as well, despite losing money.

Your opponent is 118/1 to flop a flush. This time, his 118/1 shot came in, but the other 117 times, he won't flop a flush - The fact that he has flopped a flush means next time the same opponent has 83s, he'll remember the time he flopped a flush and beat AK, but next time, he's not going to flop a flush and you'll make a load of money.

I'm currently reading a great book, called "The Mental Game of Poker", and in there, there's an excellent analogy in there which suits this hand perfectly:

"Poker isn’t an ATM; it’s more like a slot machine calibrated to pay out your edge (minus the rake). Earning your edge means you have to pay out a lot of what you take in—sometimes in dramatic fashion."

    Defo can raise more pre.

    Flop fine.

    Turn bet bigger imo.

    River fine as well.

If he keeps playing 83dd like this you will print money long term, just make sure you stay on his table :).

This villains just upgraded from facebook poker with a VPIP100 PFR2 and WTSD 50

The only strategy to beat these guys is to wait for strong hands and value bet, I know you got AKo but your hands just too vulnerable on that flop to value bet. Wait for better situations to happen that are less risky.

guarantee this tard would slow play like most tards on NL8, you showdown and loss a small pot.

so I'd play like this :-

Check flop villiain bets min I call
Check turn villain bets 8p I call
Check river villain shoves I FOLD

    Hope this helps

You may think that this strategy is predictable and unbalanced but remeber

Villain thinks a royal flush is something you do after taking a BIG S * * T
