Hitman's London Hitquiz!!!

edited April 2012 in The Shed
Fulham were formed in 1879 as Fulham st andrew church

1902. Savoy Court is the only road in London where you can drive on the right hand side
because at that time they gave a  priviliedge to people travelling to the theatre would be lead out of
their carriages striaght into the theatre. Or something along those lines

............and she is rite, but I do know alot of S--- about London, from the Early Roman Settlement at a possible bridge crossing, where the River narrowed with good ground both sides!
Through Daniel 'Jermaine' Defo's Days of Plague & Fire, through Tudor Times, The Wars, Modern Expansion,  till today!!

So 2 Questions today to get started, Easy & Obvious One to get u going.......

1,  Who Is The Oldest Prof. football Team in London, from 1879!!

piece pash that one....now More Harder for the Enthusiasts..

2,  What is the ONLY road in London, [UK in fact], Where u Can drive on The Right hand side of the road........ .....AND Why????
[Act of Parliment in 1902 allowed Cars & carraiges to do this!!]

Chopos!! Correct & Correct, !! VWP SIR!!

As you enter the Savoy Court, the Savoy theatre is on the right, so to let the Higher echelons of society, be dropped off outside the The Theatre Door without blocking the Hotel Entrancee, correct, they made it IN to the right, OUT to the Left!!

Just to the left of the Hotel theatre as you come out is a wonderful Pub, 'The Coal Hole', it was old fuel store for The Savoy!!
It has about 6 levels, 4 down, then a great little snug room, where the coal was shovelled into the Savoy Coal Cellar, On ma rare visits to any Theatre, up west, coz i am an inverted[ or converted snob, lol], i aways go rite down the bottom of pub to it, great if thers's a few of ya, There's a big Iron railed gate which locks you in, feels just like Alcatraz!! LOL!!

I always leave a coin tite in tha corner, to see if its there when i go back!! Honest, kids,  [well my niece & nephew were],  are scared to go down in that snug, its quite enclosed!! Bit like the Chritmas Pud trick, i told all ma party this about the coin, on the tube,  last time we went, and while the kids were lookin for it,  i slipped a coin in one corner, they were AMAZED when they fornd it!! GEE am such a wag!!! LOLOL!!

Opposite side of tha Strand is a great Italian Restaurant, called 'Heaven & Hell' but in Italian OBVIOUSLY!!

Great Knowledge Chopos, !! [i know u never cheated lol!!]

I once saw  "  Happy Birthday Tina "   on the magic roundabout in Hemel Hempsted . !

"Sporny," was a "Merry Old Soul"  and meant no harm, everyone knew that,  we never took him seriously.   He'd been on Tilt for some time and should have taken a break,  but permanent break by Sky is cruel justice for posting to many bad beats.!
He needed a final warning to behave or receive lengthy ban,  not permanent execution. I don't think anyone would genuinely say Sporny was a bad person or trouble maker. He was a Colourful Character a genuinely regarded member of the Forum Community not a nasty person to be banished forever.    fwiw    Hugs Annie xxx

i once caused chaos on that roundabout, the first time i seen it i was driving an artic, and tried to turn left as usual, as i really needed to turn right, i tried to follow any sign i could see to get my bearings.
as i had an extended load, i needed even more room to turn. so there i was  blocking about three different exits, and cars beeping their horns, telling me to go somewhere that wasnt my real destination.
it took 10 mins for the blue lights to turn up and sort the situation out
spent the night in what i thought was a quiet place behind a tesco superstore, only to find it was boy racer city
    i dont like hemel
