I actually think the mistake you made in this hand was not going broke. Most of the time, by not getting all your money in the middle in this spot, you'll be losing value.

With A7 on the button, late'ish in a tournament, you have to open and I like the bet size. I like the c-bet on an extremely safe flop for you and I like the c-bet size too.

I wouldn't check the turn. On the flop, his call indicates he has something. The hands that are most likely are one-pair hands and flush draws and it's time to charge those hands now we've hit. There aren't many Aces that call the flop and check the turn, so I'd be confident that I'd just gone ahead. I'd stick with the half-pot line here.

Now on the river his value bet would just be a shove. Having hit our two-pair we'd have to be very happy with our hand. Only sets, AQ and the unlikely straight are beating us and we'd be committed to the pot. The flush draws have all missed and he could easily have a weaker two-pair than us. We'd just be unlucky that he happens to be playing one of the few hands that we don't like.

So I'd have gone out on this hand. Thank your lucky stars that you're not as bad as me. :/

thanks -early on with 6 handed I would normally fold rag ace. Points well made.
