Jacks The Lads or just plain Messi?
We always learn in this game. Sometimes about ourselves. As a player of less than a year, i was reading a good book called The Mental Game of Poker by Jared Tendler and had reached a part about dealing with abad run due to variance etc. I've had bad beats like everyone but nothing serious. Well, my day had come.........and a lesson was about to be learned.
I play MTTs and DYM's and had started with a couple of wins in DYM's and settled down to watch Messi and co v Chelsea on HD+ so i could rewind good bits. I support Everton but was rooting for Chelsea. Cahill off then John Terry does something disgraceful. Messi hits post , shot saved but Barca get two. Ramirez scores a magnificent goal to put them ahead in the tie. Fabregas dives but Messi does not convert and its backsto the wall. What an ending........but Barca stand up as do their crowd to applaud their team as they realise they won't get to final. Great sportsmanship by them and yes, Messi can have a poor(by his standards) night.
John Terry tries to worm his way out but has no morals so his disgraceful behaviour is ignored/forgotten.
Congrats Chelsea. Its not always the best team who wins. Luck plays its part.
My games throughout have involved these all-ins
JJ V .. Win with quad jacks then in same game
JJ V AKo lost game
JJ V KJo lost game
AKo V AJo lost game
JJ V AQo lost game
Jacks were not doing me the greatest of favours so when i turned up a King high diamond flush on the river and my opponent went all-in committed, i sought redemption. Yes folks, you guessed it he had two diamondsin his hand one of which was the ace....pity it wasn't a jack eh? Crippled, i was soon out of that DYM.
Now where was that book again.....i've a lesson to learn........
PS I've looked back and i'm pleased to say that tilt was only responsible for two poor calls and one loss on the night so i've learned a good lesson.'Bad beats rant due to variance' rant over and i'm nicely relxed now.thank you for reading.....

It was just the way they couldn't hold up and being ahead so many times, even dominating twice, couldn't seem to stop it happening. I know its variance but as an ex maths teacher i can work out the odds...very high in consecutive games. I know the poker gods will pay me back one day.......hopefully. Cheers
You are a cruel one with some of the beats ur putting on some players. I think notwithstanding that JJ tends to be more a flip ie 46:54 as AT and below tend to give up as there's too many 'better' hands around. As well as that medium pocket pairs can bow out. Its those pesky QQ, KK and AA that hurt.....though for you obviously not, eh!!!!
See you at a table Dazler where i shall not be calling your all-ins!!!! LOL....cheers and gl

Enjoyed the video.....it brought back all the bad memories for me. I needn't worry though, eh? They'll be replaced with a bucket more soon enough.......Cheers and GL at the tables..
