The only thing I'd add to playing live and turning your hand over I always wait for the dealer to indicate that the cards are to be turned over. That way there is no danger of my hand being ruled dead if I didn't see another player in the hand or mishear an action.
I use the same rule for handing over my winning hand. When the dealer ships me the chips, I ship them my cards.

If Phil Laak followed your advice about revealing your cards in cash games pre flop he would be a lot better off!
