As a football fan i hope he stays at Arsenal. I dread to see what a strike force could be like when played properly with Chaimbelin Walcott and Van Persie, scary to think how good that will be.
However from a business point of view if he doesnt sign a new contract then i think Arsenal have to cash in. Simple as you cant let a player of that quality go for nothing.
yes quite, you made a good point there "business point of view" arsenal seem to do very well in that respect, make young or average players world class and then cash in,,, no problems with the training and develpment then, but hey, how about lets cash in from some big trophy wins instead of just player sales.

I dont think the player sales is the issue, the issue is how they have been replaced. Fabregas, Henry, Gallas where never going to be easy to replace but no offence to Everton or Wenger, Arteta isnt in the same league. And hes not young enough to develop into that.
Wenger had years of sucsess buying and developing young talent selling them on but in the mean time being a very competitive side. All those panic buys last season where just incorrect.

Disagree about arteta don, he had a lot to live up to filling in for the legend fab, but he came on strong in the second half of the season scored some great goals. Ironically we lost our form when he got injured, we nearly blew 3rd place as a result.

I have no doupt hes a good player but hes no Fabregas
I only seen highlights of the game yesterday i fell asleep during the grand prix. However from what ive seen i suspect some shrewed investment is needed in the summer.

their good, but not Champions League quality that i believe Arsenal look for. Theres a young lad forget his name doesnt look too bad lots of potential.
However if i was Wenger, id be looking to invest, i know this is a period of transition after a stadium move which i think is the best for the future and will see the biggest benifits for Arsenal Football Club.
I have no clue as to the transfer budget but firstly, as a manager of any op club id be sending scouts to Brazil, that Neymar looks dangerously good and would be ideal for Arsenal imo, expessially with their record of taking good youngersters and making them world class.
Defender wise, well i think thats always a hard one, world class defenders are rare and because of that the better teams demand to keep hold of them

ah now that bit i didnt know lol. yer gl to him with that, unproven in europe i cant imagine many sides paying that for him of fear of the Freddy Adu effect.
In Response to Re: Robin Van Persie : bargain podolsky is great transfer.RVP deffinetly going.so 1 more striker.cheap higuain or bojan great replacement for RVP. Posted by martin111
Bojan has a weird deal with Roma atm somehting like Roma have to pay barca to keep him after loan, barca must buy him back and roma must buy him again.
Im no expert but i cant work it out. It basically means roma and barca will rotate him for 4 years i think for the cost to roma of something like 30mil.

could be worse, you defence could have Bobo Balde in it.
Well football is simply about money. Unless he fancies Spain i assume van Persie will be at City next season. I think Arsenal did very well last season considering the last minute moves they were forced to make to optimise their returns. Utd spent £50m, nice and early, like it was nothing and won nothing. Liverpool spent around £120m and won 'some silverware', Carling Cup, bargain, sack the manager, try again. Spurs jacked up their wage structure to keep Modric and pay £75k a week for Adebayor, who they might not be able to afford, and got into the Europa deathzone for their efforts. Get 4th next season ? you mugs ! watch Harry get outta that 'competition' asap ! Stoke jacked up their wage structure and spent £23m to have a rubbish season. Nobody noticed. Dumb mugs ! What do they seriously expect to achieve ? Norwich and Swansea were cool tho. Newcastle too. I expect they'll get ram-raided in close season because like all but 3 premiership teams, they are just a feeder club. Aside from Arsenals success and the performance of 2 of the 3 promoted clubs, the seasons crowning glory, undoubtedly was (imo) the demise of that vile, sectarian cancer - rangers. I hope " the shame of Scotland " melts away never to return again. It'd be nice to know that those horrible, backward, right-wing, royalist Scots can think of better things to do than follow that nauseating anachronism. Hopefully they can look forward to a brighter Glasgow and a brighter Scotland. I doubt it tho. Life isn't supposed to be about what's right or good or cool or fun. It's just about who has the most money and the idiots that have no option other than to invest their ' twisted emotions ' and bitter energy into believing what they are told. COME ON YOU GOONERS !!!!!!!!! Oh yeah i nearly forgot. Mysterious, lucky Chelsea won the Champions League. When their finalist opponents stood to win nothing for winning the competition financially, due to a disastrous couple of transfer clauses but 4.5 million euros if they came second. Funny old game ain't it But it's NEVER rigged. EVER. Just like all 'sports'. There is variance and coincidences and ANYONE that EVER suggests the contrary EVER is a crackpot cynic too scared to live the dream !!!!!

You do realise that Rangers arent the only team with Bigoted fans in Scotland?
And secondly out of the Scottish teams with bigoteds fan, do you realise the percentage of fans who are actually bigoted.
Thirdly i think theres more to it than what people actually realise.

Fantastic post. Agree with every word.
Football at the top end has become sickening. It's become every reason why I hate formula1 so much. Toys for rich boys are all the top clubs are now.
Money, money, money. Roy of the Rovers it ain't.
And if the SFA fail to oblige their moral duty regarding the current "situation" in Scotland I wash my hands of them forever.
In Response to Re: Robin Van Persie : The guy has 5 league winners medals, and will get a couple more when they get stripped of their titles.can't be that bad, and won celtics player of the year one season. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing Don,but none at all is even worse. Posted by igimc
I never said he didnt win anything i know he was very sucsessful. Although seriously hes got to have been the most over-rated defender ive seen in my lifetime. Although was part of an Extremely strong celtic side, one that deserved the sucsess they had. Let remember he also say in their reserves for a number of seasons after that.

I agree that issues need to be takled Bandini. But really the issue isnt Rangers or Celtic and the SFA cant do much about it. I was speaking to a guy who knows a guy that works for HMRC and they basically said that the head office down in wherever wanted the Glasgow office to look at Rangers (& Celtic fwiw) many times, but the Glasgow office refused because they feared for the reaction if they found anything. I believe its actually a different office thats working with the investigiation now.
The issue is completely a Scottish problem mostly within Glasgow. Although lets face it, its not isolated to Scotland, the same issue is present very heavily in Northern Ireland and some parts of the Republc of Ireland. Wars have been fought over these exact issues within recent memory. To think football is the issue would be wrong.
Regards to the money issue, i agree 100%. I do enjoy formula one however and everytime an improvement comes in motorsport the chances are within a few years we see those improvements come to our road cars. Within a few more years they come into road cars that would be more common. Start off usually in the Ferrarris and Mercedes for example and eventually they become standard in Vauxhalls.
However in football this is clearly not the case. Owners buy a team and it becomes their toy almost. Now i know we differ on many views, but i bet we couldnt put all our money together buy East Stirling and take them to the SPL. However some rich guy could, and East Stirling would be a toy. Hed eventually get bored and suddenly the team is in deep ...
However if we where to buy East Stirling and manage it properly it likley never challenege for anything of note, but the club would more than likley be managed properly and within its means. This imo is a far greater achievement.

well call me an old-fashioned fool but.... 1. in formula one i have a sneaking suspicion that the driver with the best car wins. 2. rangers football club appear to have had an arrogant and scant regard as to the current global financial meltdown. viewers of ' Top Gear ' and ' A Question of Sport' may disagree. this situation is what some philosophers might label a ' priority crisis '. however a side that is so hate-fuelled that it bends the laws of fiscal reality to the point of self-destruction in an apparent bid to appear competitive with its rivals (brm) deserves every consequence that the law allows you seem like a well-meaning chap though ' the don90 ' and no anarchist to be sure ! i am english by default but i would highly recommend the romance of following a club such as Ross County for example ? surely, an honest pursuit, after all your shameful, wasteful misdemeanours, may prove spiritually uplifting ? alternatively you may do no better than to follow the wise counsel of your kinsman Bandini ? this gentleman holds your intellectual ambitions in the highest regard as only a compatriot can.

1. Forumla one. Just check this years winners. I think thats enough said on that subject. 7 different winners in 7 different races in 5 different cars, and the car many rate as the best car on the grid hasnt won a race yet.
2. Ive been a Rangers fan for as long as i can remember. I live on a small farm as a child, with a decent size garden. I spent most of my childhood dreaming i was Brian Laudrup or Ally McCoist.
I agree fwiw that we should be punnished for the current situation, however i think some proposals are largely to strong.
Living in the Scottish Borders means supporting a local team would mean supporting a 6th tier Scottish side who're actually amatuer. Now i dont mind Amatuer football and ive actually done coaching with one local side, although that didnt work out for many reasons. Ive played this level at youth level before a knee injury and would love to again, but at present my knee isnt strong enough. My local actual league side is the two Edinburgh sides or Berwick Rangers. Berwick is quite a treck from home, and the Edinburgh sides have their issues too.

kinda weird. i spent most of my adult life fantasising about being his assassin ( mainly recalling the times when i found myself the unwitting victim of being a viewer of 'a question of sport' when visiting people i felt obliged to visit. (x-mas, birthdays, dinner etc....inescapable horror...i didn't want to go anyway ) McCoist , Littlejohn, Clarkson, Thatcher, Pietersen, Rooney, Hammond ( Richard NOT Alex !!!! ), Bushell, Davidson, Boycott, Griffin. that's my first 11 anyway in no particular order. Really Don? Really?
Care to list them so that I can pontificate (pun intended) on how they compare to The Artist Formerly Known as Glasgow Ranger's "issues"?
