Free money

edited November 2009 in Poker Chat
Had been waiting to get onto this table, and was watching while doing so.  This one guy was playing 100%vpip, total maniac with no respect for money.  Before I sat at the table I had an annoying day and was like £110 down so thanksss.....

He was on 50nl and had been running like god.  Was upto 550bb stack when I joined the table.  BTW I changed the name to V (it wasn't the multitable reg -v- promise) not cos I don't wanna embarras him, but cos I don't want to alert you guys to how bad he is so you get on the wait list before me when he's playing :p

yeah ofc.  im behind to x9/TT/JJ/QQ/KK/AA.  KK unlikely cos I have a K.  JJ also.  When someone is playing 100pc vpip you can't fold really and tbf I was only in the table for 100bb to win a total pot of 530bb which makes it even easier.

I think I probably even call with a T there too, especailly given his play in the 1st hand that I had posted.

And yeah I play for those kinda size pots day in day out you kinda get used to it, it helps to get the money value out of your head and just think of things in terms of BBs.

yeh--fair play mate---just I have seen the tactic a few times --where a player spends quite a few bob persuading the table that he's a nutter---then gets it all back and then loads more, because no-one can fold against him--done it myself once on the micro-stakes, just to see how well it works---seen lolufold do it a few months ago---but i dont suppose it happens that often on the high stakes-- was fun on micro stakes--chat box went mental---lol

    Voluntarily Put Into Pot
It's a measure of how loose a player is.
The "voluntarily" part means that the times that a player has to pay the blinds are discounted from this figure.
By saying 100%vpip, Scotty is implying that this player played EVERY hand.

VPIP = "Voluntarily put (money) in Pot".

So, a 100% VPIP is a loose-goose of the highest order, in every hand.

So, that means his starting hand criteria is exceptionally wide.

And from that, we know that he is not playing good hands usually, & a sensible Opening range is crushing his normal range.

And that tells us we can beat him easily.

No wonder Scotty kept his name private - very wise!

PS - With due respect to anyone who does it, it's impossible to play every hand & be a winner. The looser the opponent, the more chance you have of beating them. Simples.

Scotty was this our freind.  Who is apparently the head of a very important poker charity.

If it is he is a very popular guy.  Everyone wants to play with him.

As soon as he sits down the waiting list goes round the block.

    Nice caning mate.

It can be with the right skill set and if you have the ability to be 100pc vpip PF but generally play a bit tighter post flop.  That is if you can keep on reloading tho; playing that loose changes everyones stacking off range so wide so the whole table ends up playing like it but they don't adjust post flop and the money on the table gets so so deep.

I hadn't played with him before Shann.  Well I had no notes so maybe a new fish into the mix.  After I stacked him he did reload for 20 so I doubt he is a big a whale as our other friend :(

Best 100%vpip pre flop games usually happen .25/.5 between 3 and 6 in the morning.  Great fun and very profitable.  As long as u can afford a couple of buyins.
