Not sure how you "knew" he had nothing, and not sure I think you did more than just gamble on shoving your queen high flush draw on a paired board. Maybe wrong, but seems more likely. What buyin level is this? Wild play from multiple people it seems.

I don't understand the bet sizing and what they were meant to infer........it doesn't look like people were playing in any standard way for the hands thaey had otherwise you'd have folded pre and so would Dave.....it looks like a bluffathon, TBH,....cheers

If you knew he had nothing, why not just call and let him bluff  or check fold later streets ?

You could easy be behind on flop.

As it was, you were lucky to be ahead, then got unlucky to go behind.

This is a weird hand.

I don't think 3betting pre with hands like Q9s is horrible, but our opponent is raising from UTG, so his range is much tighter than a button open, therefore I'd prefer a flat call on the button to a 3bet if we're going to play the hand, and play Q9s against multiple opponents as it doesn't play too badly in a multiway pot. You can just throw the hand away too, Q9s is pretty but you don't have to play it.

The flat call then min 4bet from the villain is just the weirdest thing ever. Having 3bet, if he's got the sort of hand he's representing, I'm calling the 150 all day long to try and outflop him and stack him.

Nothing wrong with 3-bet bluffing and Q9s is the ideal hand for such a bluff. However, when we 3-bet bluff what we genearlly want to happen is everybody folds or worst case scenario we see the flop heads up and in possition. So to avoid this happening... don't 3-bet bluff an UTG raise, if another player calls worry about if he has a small pair since players love to set mine early in tournies in multi-way pots, even without the required implied odds. Also don't 3-bet bluff if there are some spewtard fish in the blinds who love to see flops.

The flop is pretty good flop for you since it's unlikely (but not impossible) that the villian would play a ten in this way, we are four way to the flop though so the odds of running into a genuine hand increase. Once dave bets full pot then he's not going anywhere so you now just have to play the guessing game of does he have worse than queen high more often than he has a ten (since you are about 50:50 vs most other hands like pps and 5s).

But you're right, you performed a miricle soul read and "knew" that he had nothing. "now all you have to do is fade the turn and river"... I guess poker really is a never ending game
