Classic Pub Game Lines

edited June 2012 in Poker Chat
I was chatting to JJ the other day about a pub game I played in, and I thought it would be a good idea to stick up the comedy lines you hear from some people in there that are just bad beyond belief.

So I'll start by chucking in the one I was telling JJ about...

Player A makes a big 3bets pre against Player B, and Player B calls. 3 Streets of betting from Player A (and Player B flatting). Player A turns over a decent hand I think TPTK with AQ and Player B turns over 36s for trip 3s.

Player A says 'what the hell, I 3bet really big pre' and Player B says 'yeah but it was suited'

LOL

Player A Bets 3 x BB Pre, it folds round to me and I shove all-in, everyone else folds and player A Insta Calls..............I Show KK Player A has 10J and hits the straight.

"How can you call my all in there I ask?"

Player A says......."I thought you were at it!!".................Really.

After Player A calls Player B's massive overbet preflop.  Player A has 87o.  Player B has Queens

    Board runs out JJ862

Player A - See I was right to call.  He could have had AK and if he had I would have had the best hand.

I could tel you a few but ill bring em out 1 a a time

This one is very old, first time id played in a pub and the first time id played poker since i was 14. My uncle knew the venue and i arrived with him, i explained to the TD id never played before and he sorted me out hand ranking and asked a guy at the table to keep me right, without looking at my cards.

About 20 mins in i ask, "so how do you know what a good hand is?" I think a fair newby question.

One guy at the table turns around, "every hand is rubbish before the flop"

Ha this thread has potential. I played a hand on skypoker, and hit a royal flush. Everyone was like omg nice in the chat. I was like ty ty. A guy missed it, and asked what happened. I said I hit a royal flush. He then said.. 'but did you win the hand'
    lol

I remember being at the casino once, and raising from button. Woman calls. Board runs out, there are flushes/straights etc. and I barreled both flop and turn. She called both. and I gave up on river, she had like 3rd pair and it was good. I said, 'guessing you would have folded river if I'd have shoved', she looked at me in dismay, as if I'd be idiotic to fold 3rd pair

My favorite one. This was an arguement i wasnt involved in, and was sort of towards me leaving pub league poker.

UTG raises to 100 - blinds where 25/50
folded to BTN who 3bets to 550
    UTG calls.

    Flop K42r
    UTG donks all in
    BTN snaps

    UTG K4o
    BTN AKs

    board bricks

    UTG "phew! Glad i held"

this sparks of BTN, "What you held, you called 11BB with K4o."

UTG replied, "Yes but you have to hit the flop to win in poker."

BTN, "No you dont, you just need the best hand more often than not, i had best hand when yopu called pre."

UTG says, "But i won because i hit the flop, i had the best hand"

BTN "£50 down each on the other table now, ill have AK you can have K4. We'll run it 100 times, everytime i win i get £1 everytime you win you get £1."

UTG, "No i like my money thanks."

    BTN sighs

I remember once after I called an all in on the flop the other person said 'I'm on a draw.  All I need is two hearts.'

This is less of a line and more just an example of how terrible the guy I was playing HU with at the end of the game last night.

He limps with AQs, I raise with 55, he 3bets and I just let it go.

Then he says to me (after we've shown our cards to each other), 'If you'd have shoved, I'd have folded cos I put yuo on a small pair, and I didn't want a flip'

This was when he had about a 4to1 chip lead lol.

Raise, reraise pre.  Guy in Big Blind says " I have chips in so I guess I'm pot committed".

lol ive heard so many similar. The best one ive heard similar tho.

200/400 guy in BB has 450 chips one guy raised to 800 BTN calls SB folds BB folds.

"your never pot commited i could get aces next hand" was his lines when the table looked stunned.
