    My magic moment in music is the first time and the last time I heard Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen. I was 22 when it was released and I was heavily into music and the first time I heard this song I actually got a shiver down my back. I never knew music could have that effect. Today I watched Bruce at the Superbowl and got the shiver again when he did the same song. Wonderful.

    A bit cheesy Tikay, but very happy memories of:

     "Leaving on a Jet Plane" by Peter Paul & Mary.

    A Boeing 777 (geddit) !!

    It was one of our reportoire of just  three songs that a group I was in, sang at a couple of functions about 20 years ago.

    be a simple one for me it was the song my dad and mum met to and has unfourtantley been played at both there funerals in recent times.

    seekers "ill never find another new" which was number one for two weeks in feb of 1965 around the time they met

    brings back sad but always good memories whenever i play it

    1984 and I am 16, bespectacled and devoid of female company - a goodnight kiss off my nan doesn't count. I was fairly late getting into music, but had discovered Depeche Mode's Construction Time Again in 1983 and had found my musical Nirvana - not THAT Nirvana. That album was followed up with the singles People Are People and Master & Servant (I'm not sure I was fully au fait with the whole Master and Servant thing). But I digress...
    1984 and the next album is out, entitled Some Great Reward. I got it on the day of release from WHSmiths in Stockport and bolted up to my bedroom to stick this waxing on my Amstrad Tower system - tape to tape not a problem!
    Lying on the bedroom floor, lyric sheet (what a great idea that was back in the day) in my grubby paws. I'm not sure I had ever been so excited about listening to something in my whole life. 9 new songs....dangit...7 new songs (the singles from earlier in the year were on it) from my favourite band. I listened twice through uninterupted by anything. My sister didn't hoover, tea wasn't ready. Homework took a back-seat. This was my Depeche Day - short of Liverpool winning the European Cup in '77, I'm not sure anything else was more important.
    Of course, the album itself was fairly average - quite moody (which was good for an angst-ridden teenager), not a patch on Construction, probably not even as goot as A Broken Frame or Speak & Spell, but that didn't matter - this was my music, and no-one could ever take those hours away from me. Come on and Lay with me, Come on and lie to me, Tell me you love me, Say I'm the only one...

    Hi Tk,
    Easy one for me......It's the 1970's and my good lady & I are on a ferry and saying (a very reluctant) goodbye to Ireland.  "Sailing" by Rod Stewart comes on the ferry tannoy.......  We've had better days!

    Two weeks a go I became a dad for the first time, an amazing feeling. but my music moment was when the tune by salt and pepper came on the radio which was playing in the back ground ( Arrrr Push It, Arrrrr Push it good)
    even tho in pain my wife just cracked out laughing,and the mid-wife was in tears. Definatly a song I will never forget.

    A song that always gets my hairs stand up on the back of my neck is tracey chapmans fast car when i 1st heard this song i thought this sounds like a guy then i realised it was a women just a fantastic song with great words great surname aswell chapman as its my surname shame we not related i could be loaded lol

      1st March 1975, having just met my wife (the result of a 50p bet between my mates and me, but thats another story), in a nightclub in Wigan, no not Wigan Casino, Puffers. Sticky carpets, bladdered off my 1st ever shorts, Pernod and Black ofc and attempting to dance to the fantastic Dreamer by Supertramp. and i am still one.

    i suppose mine would have to be going to see UB40 3 years ago for the signing off 30th anniversary gig in there home town birmingham a dream come true after been a fan since 1982/83....i have seen them many time before over the years but this was special in a sense after a couple of years of turmoil in the band and new lead singer coming in duncan campbell ali and robins brother..as you can imagine many of us UB fans would wonder if this would work!!!!!
    anyway it did and it was brilliant but the one song that stuck out to me and gave me goose bumps was a song called MADAME MEDSUA about margaret thatcher and britain at that time which could be used today with the current woes of britain,ireland and EU........enjoy  <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vrtJEd_EWfM&quot; frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

    I suppose it's always the little things that stick with you.....

    For me I was a wide eyed and optimistic student in 1994, I'd lived a pretty sheltered and modest life to that point coming as I did from an unremarkable and not particularly well off background.  The chance to move away to University albeit in the very underwhelming town of Middlesbrough had given me that oft talked about opportunity to 'discover myself' and I was grasping it with both hands and having a whale of a time.

    I remember one particular National Express coach trip early in my first year, travelling back to the bright lights of the 'boro after spending the weekend at my parents house which although a pleasant trip, now seemed like a different lifetime and a step back into the past.  Anyone who has spent any time driving or travelling on the A19 to Tesside (why you would is beyond me...) will know there is a certain point as you crest a rise in the road when the full spleandour of Middlesbrough with it's chemical works smog filled skyline is laid before you.  It was at that very second as the coach reached the top of the rise and my eyes gazed once again on what was to be my playground for the next three years that my mind was drawn back to the song playing on my Walkman - The Charlatans, Just When You're Thinkin Thinks Over had at that very second in what to my formative mind could only be a signal of things to come, reached the line "Yeah, Yeah, I'm coming home."  A very poinent moment in my life and one that I've never forgotten.

    22(cough) years ago the day after MrD junior was born I woke with an enormous hangover. I stumbled into the kitchen to make some tea before going to see him at the hospital for the second time. When I turned on the radio this song by Bill Withers was playing. Still brings a tear to the eye just thinking about it.

    With hindsight, perhaps it was not a good idea to have a quiz where the answers are subjective, & I have to try & choose. Past experience suggests it may lead to bad blood.

    For further "Free Entry" Blog Quizzes, I will propose a new & novel way of selecting the winners. Think you will like the new method.......

    Hi tikay love the blogs

    I am not a music lover, but i will never forget listening to radar love by golden earring for the first time going up the  m1 at 100mph.  It just suited the moment and became my favorite when i came home from late nite poker.
