Omaha hi low

edited July 2012 in The Poker Clinic
Recently inspired by Tikays blogs thought i would dabble in a game of Hi Lo 1st things 1st is this the same game as plo8? As you may have guessed im not a good omaha player but i do enjoy the game i know the rules but wouldnt say i understand the game well if that makes sense.

This was a dym tournament but i was playing it as if it was a normal sit and go just for omaha practise really. Did i completely overplay my hand here? My deciding factors for calling were that this player seemed to be a player that only goes for the Hi The only players raising pre flop were myself and the guy to my right not involved in the hand so guessed AA or something simlilar from the villian does that make my call correct?  i got a dream flop so obviouslyit all worked out but was it the correct play?

    Yes this is PLO8.

Well I'm not sure I raise pre-flop because so much changes once the flop is dealt, it's often best to have a look at a flop first (IMO). But once you raise, that's it, I don't think you're ever folding.

Obviously a great flop for you but with 15 chips left it's a bit irrelevant what the flop was lol.

Yes as he said this is PLO8. I also agree I don't think I'm raising with this hand, as while its fairly strong with high and low possibilities its not a monster either. Once you have raised you are gettig 2:1 to make the call and pretty much have to I think.

Not 100% sure on it as PLO8 not my main game, and so never totally got to grips with the maths on the fact you only have a possible low about 70% of the time, and not the other 30% of the time due to there being to many high cards. Still pretty sure in this case you had to call after your raise.
