Am I always getting it all in here?

edited July 2012 in The Poker Clinic
£250 guaranteed MTT.  Don't really like calling shoves with draws but as soon as the flop came down I knew I was going with it.  Was I forced to gamble given my stack size etc?

I think you can bet the flop slightly smaller,  maybe 380, then fold to the 2 all-ins,  its likely 1 has a set and you are not in good shape.

Alternatively, you could check raise all-in,  then at least the decision is on them, and some players will fold top pair etc...

I bet slightly larger as I decided I was committing to the pot, but in hindsight a smaller bet would have been optimal.  Good shout on the check raise, although given the hands they flipped over I doubt these guys were folding their top pairs :)

I don't think there is anyneed to raise this pre tbh its early you shouldn't be building pots unless super strong and def not getting it in on draws like this IMO

+1 raising pre from a bad position grew the pot too much commiting you to the FD on the flop. It is a weak ace and as soon as you get 1 caller the others are priced in. I prefer a flat pre a and c/c or c/r line on the flop

Dont like raising pre at all here, especially 4x.

Much deeper, maybe in cash - with the right image I dont hate it.  But just putting ourself in so many horrible spots post, especially vs these types of villains (that are only ever limping to call).

I prefer checking with A6. If we hit our ace, it disguises our hand a bit, and it means we aren't inflating the pot out of position with a rag ace. Don't c-bet flop.

I think as played, once two players are all in, with the size of our raise pre and the flop bet, we should be calling the rest off. If you don't want to call the rest off with a draw, don't raise pre, as we're going to flop a flush draw much more than we flop anything else that we're happy stacking off with. If you aren't happy stacking off with A6s when we flop a flush draw, which is the best we can hope for with our hand, then don't raise pre and don't c-bet 3/4 pot on the flop with it. It's also likely that we're going to get limp/called in 2 spots, and we have A6, it's alright but not great. I much prefer a check pre. If you're going to take this line then fold with A6s, then you might as well have 72o...

C-betting into 2 opponents who have limp/called on a board of Th 9s 2s - It smacks a limp/caller's range. Think about what sort of hands someone might possibly limp/call with then continue with on this flop - If the villains have AK, AQ, AJ, AT, A9, KQ, KJ, KT, K9, QJ, QT, Q9, Q8, JT, J9, J8, J7, T9, T8, T7, 98, 87, 86, any PP, then a limp/calling station is likely not folding. That's a LOT of hands which are calling us, so if we get 2 folds here, it'll be a miracle, and we've got a pot sized bet left on the turn, and Ace High... Yuck.

Definitely a check on the flop, don't bet, betting is setting fire to money. Check/call flop.
