hi.
    just a quicky, the olympic motto is " its not the winning but the taking part". so why do they have a 1st,2nd and third?. just asking!

because the olympic motto is citius, altius, fortius, which is latin for "faster, higher, stronger."

my point?  or your point?  your point is based upon an incorrect motto.  if your motto was correct then you have a point.  however as your motto is incorrectly attributed to the olympics and their motto actually refers to being faster, stronger etc there will be a necessary differentiation between performances and it is acceptable to award gold, silver and bronze medals.
