Advice

edited August 2012 in The Poker Clinic
Hi would like you to look at my hand to see how my betting was and is there was anything different i could of done to win the hand? I get abit confused with betting so i tend to usually stick to 3x betting pre flop and generally if i think im winning on the flop and turn i bet half the pot?

Also my turn call when he shoves is it a good call, well i know it was but in general not knowing his/her cards is it a call with a 4 board straight possible?

u got it all in when you were in front, u dont need to do anymore. Oppnent only has 4 outs to win the hand outright thats 8%!! u should be well happy with odds of 84% win ; 8% split ; 8% loss. for all oppos chips! Keep doing the same and profit is assured!

Good size 3bet pre-flop. I think you should probably get out of the habit of just always 1/2 potting. On this flop, I think it's better to make it £1.80-£2.

If you'd bet more (and he still called), that would make your turn bet bigger and calling a shove would be virtually mandatory.

As it is, it's pretty horrible having to call a reshove with 1pr when there's 4 to an open-ended straight on the board. On this occasion you were ahead, but I think if your average opponent does this 10 times, and you call 10 times, you're gonna come off worse than they do.

It helps if you know your opponent, but you still get alot of loose players at this level and you're losing to 45, 56, 67, 89, 33,  44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, 57, 68, 35, A3, A8, most of which could all be played similarly to how he's played

I think it's hard to put him on connectors due to the pre-flop action, but with some players you just never know. I would be putting him on hand like 66/77s for a set, think ovrerall it's not a profitable call.

Looks ok, would need reads for turn decision

Hey guys thanks for the feedback, been busy so only just getting back to your comments.
I called on the turn because I generally thought he had an under pair to mine? It was a hard call if I'm honest but I went with my gut feeling!
So apart from my turn call being a bit dodgy my bet sizing was ok? Maybe a bit more on the flop for that kind of board?
