Not sure if I shove that flop TBH. But Id absolutely never be calling that off with AJ when I could potentially be drawing dead? (unlikely I know as youre unlikely to shove a FH). He hasnt given any respect for a pocket pair and hes called off for his tournament life. Its a really bad call but I personally dont shove that flop. I probably check/shove or open shove the turn.

He prob calls cos his land looks pretty

Alternatively he thinks he either has best hand or decent number of outs v your range on that board getting over 2/1

    Basically.   He owned you

    Why would YOU call? (preflop)
  • edited August 2012
don't q opponents play. no point

I think you have to defend pre. you could 3b or flat

he probz put you on something like what you have so thought he was ahead. isn't the worst play

    +1

No point discussing 'how someone can call', you have no control over what your opponents do, you just gotta play your own hands the best you can.

And yeah, it's pretty likely that flop has done nothing for you, and you probably don't shove overpairs to the 8 so it's not the worst call in the world.

Yeh I underrstand, but put this up just as I lost so was mainly anger lol. As for my play against this player I thought was fine, considering that he had been button raising then folding almost every hand and we were close to the final tble did'nt think he could call with anything like aj aq etc.

    Thanks for the input

Im not going to discuss the oppos play we cant control what others do in a hand and therefore i think thats irrelevant. Although he probably thinks AJ high is good on this kind of board.

To your play. I probably fold pre, but this is a gin flop. Dont mind the way youve played it.
