Who would YOU choose as your poker coach?

edited August 2012 in Poker Chat
JockBMW has recently posted a blog series about some poker coaching he got from Coxylboro. The results seem to have worked for him and he enjoyed the whole experience a lot. It got me thinking though, so here's your question:

If you could be coached by another Sky Poker player, who would it be and why?

As a poker player, I think I would choose Thewy. The guy just closes out so many tournaments and that's something I've always struggled with. Mind you, I think most of us would choose Thewy as he's a poker wizard. So let's chuck in one caveat (and nothing personal, YoYo!)

...and that player can't be Thewy :)

    Ryan Spittles (scotty77) for me.

He just crushes about everything and knows enough about me to point out straight from the off.

She is pretty good at sit and gos, especially when Tighty is dealing from the bottom of the deck :P

For tourneys/DYM's -  Supersnedd - runs deep in almost everything he enters! VERY profitable player.
For cash - Lolufold - awesome record & great analysis.

I have long held the suspicion that sucess in a Tighty S'n'G is dependant on two things. Unfortunately, my moobs dont qualify!!!
As for pokercoach, I would take advice off any of the better players on the site. If I was to have a coach on a one-one basis, it would need to be a player who plays the same way as me, so step forward any LAGS who wanna coach another LAG with some big leaks in his game!!!

Lolufold is very articulate and knowledgable, a good combo for coaching.

Can i suggest one more thing to this. A poker discussion group youd like to be involved in. Ive done some sessions in some smaller hand discussion groups and simply i think their second to none, because you get multiple opinions in seconds on every desision in a hand and you can then take all that on board and use each to different situations as you see fit. It also allows you to put in you comments and discuss your thinkings.

    My group would be

Me (you are a must btw), Scotty77, LOL_Raise, DOHHHH, Greghogg and TommyD

no 1 u can only teach yaself yeah its ok for some 1 to tell u the basics but i think the best way of learning is playing yourself we all play are own way

I don`t know if he plays on sky much but he is a analyst on the show I would like to get coached from stu rutter because he is good player at all different games and formats and everytime he explains something on sky it makes sense and seems a really nice guy also.

    A great Thread Dave,

Well I think everyone can guess who i would recommend......  Coxylboro.  Chris has helped me turn my game around.  I can't praise him enough.  He adapts his style to suit the individual, I'm quite mathematical so we spent quite a bit of time discussing maths and looking at calculations.

In addition Chris helped my SNG and MTT games and didn't just focus on Cash.

Chris Cox definitely gets my vote

1st of all can I just say that I am not sucking up lol, but it would have to be Tikay. I have heard him say more than once on the tele that within an hour he can turn a losing player into a winning player, so come on Tikay bring it on lol

Have to admit Tikay would be toward the top of my list as well just from sheer experience

Or maybe Orford and then just do the opposite of what he says

I have PM,d Coxylboboro enquiring about coaching and i think i,d have to go with him if i do decide to go down that route. Him and Thewy impressed me a lot at the Blackpool SPT ( Always looked calm and totally in control of what they were doing)

However if you offering lessons on the cheap Dave i,ll have a cpl

    MP

EDIT : Andrew 1947 would also be up there - A consistantly good and improving player who.s come a long way in a short space of time - A true gent too

Would have to be Sam Trickett in the real world.

prob redman in the sky world

Ryan for me. I think the guy gives great knowledge on the show. I enjoy his posts on here and following him on twitter. I dont think you would go wrong with many of the big players on Sky but for some reason my preference would be Ryan. I dont think im a bad player at small stakes levels but would be interested to see if a 'coach' could further improve my game.

would have to be scotty77,even if i could not take my eye,s of him,he,s just to good to be true :):):)

SkyPoker Players I think I'd go for TommyD as he's so thoughtful and eloquent in his analysis and comments which is very important in a teaching role (I'm sure this comes in handy in his day job).

Wider poker world, Venessa Selbst, think she's just one of the best players out there right now, a real thinking player who just does everything right

    Hi guys

It would obviously have to be my team captain, HITMAN_RV....oops....sharkscope!!!...........sorry skip!!

Make that TommyD(us maths teachers should stick together), scotty77 (seems to have ability across a wide range), Tikay (he would take the all or nothing out of it and keep it fun) and Yoyo( he plays with a different approach i feel and a great attitude to the game).

Sounds like a good idea for a prog SKY to pick out 3/4 players who can get skype coaching though a Tournament but  receive coaching at the time.(donate any winnings to DTD forum maybe).

To be honest just watching one of the above throughout a whole T and seeing their reasons for playing hands, bet sizing etc would be worth its weight in gold to me.

    Great thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
