Live Poker Ruling

edited August 2012 in Poker Chat
I meant to put this up a few weeks back but totally forgot about it. Playing a live tourny and was down to 12 players from about 80 odd ... Blinds were 2k/4k and ive made it 11k UTG+1, Button re-ships the lot in for 40k and comes back to me and im "tanking" ... blokes states he "has a pair of ones" (his exact words!) ...i eventually call, thinking that if he has "a pair of ones" then his hand would/should be mucked - whats the ruling in your opinion?!

Cheers

To be fair, it's debatable just for the fact he could say 'I dunno what you mean, what's a pair of ones?' and really some people might not even know what it means.

However, I wouldn't call based on the fact his hand should be mucked. Personally if you wanna go down that route, I'd ask before calling, 'will his hand be mucked if he has AA cos he told me what he had?'

It may be different in different venues, but I wouldn't expect his hand to be mucked here.

If in doubt, exactly as Lambert says, ask the dealer before you call.
