Satellite saturation...

edited August 2012 in Poker Chat
It's the start of the football season and I like nothing more than listening to the football on a Saturday afteroon and play some poker at the same time. I log on just before 3pm and can find very little MTT options unless I want to play a satellite for an event this evening?

I might be mistaken but I'm sure in the past there were more options available than there are now? I would have thought a £3 or £5 tournament starting at 3pm (with 15min late reg) would appeal to a lot of people

Any thoughts....

Agreed............... and it's not just Saturday afternoons, it's the same every afternoon.

It's particularly frustrating if you can play in the afternoon but not the evening in which case all the satellites are useless, see my post in Community Suggestions which includes a lobby screenshot. I'm finding it difficult to complete my £1051 quest because so few games run at my prefered playing time nowadays.

I can understand why Sky are pushing satellites at the moment; each satellite player generates at least twice as much rake each player who buys-in direct. But even so it would be nice to leave a few freezeouts and bounty hunters running for us afternoon regulars.

low stakes MTT's seem to be disappearing except for satellites, but traffic seems to be down at the moment.

Have to agree at one point this afternoon was looking for an mtt to play & of the next 14 games to start.
    There was         :  8 x Satellites
                              1 x Freeroll
                              1 x Timed Tournament
                              4 x Mtt's
Not sure thats a good balance.

mentioned this myself, as a low stakes player its becoming pointless, never was a lot through the day, but now on a late evening there seems to have been a few cancellations too. The 1015 and 1215 Deep Stacks for instance, would attract 30 plus, yes and not a lot of rake at 20p a person,,,, replaced by a 5 quid deepstack that gets cancelled because noone enters.... Fine SKY push the bigger games, with bigger rake and sats,, but if you want small players to progress give them games they can learn in and build a bankroll.
They certainly arent going to stay with the free tenner option and enter and lose it,,,, then think great as a newbie in a recession I will deposit 100 quid. Look after the little people and eventually enough of the little people will look after you.
Either that or ignore them and theyll leave.

Gary you are quite right..it's not just Saturday, you say its most afternoons and I'm sure it is - certainly the case again today. The lobby is littered with sats to Primo, £5,000 BH or sats to other £22 or £33 conmpetitions. Why on earth can't we have some regular £2/3/5 tournaments which aren't satellites to other things which we might not be able to make and are therefore pointless.

I didnt intend playing the Primo tonight but am now trying through satellites cos there's hardly any other option!

So, i ask the question and everyone who posted agreed that there needs to be something added to the Saturday list of MMT events during the afternoon which ISNT a satellite to an event that night or a £22/33 which is out of most people's bankroll.

What is done? Is there any explanation from Sky as to why they can't take a look at the situation?

    NO!

Come on Sky, sort yourselves out. There used to be football related events, starting at 3pm etc, now there is virtually nothing. I want to play and give you my money and I can't!

On a slight tangent, is it me or are there no 20k roller satellites into the semi? I can see 2 20k roller directs but nothing else. Dont fancy direct buying into a semi although its tempting if its gets around 10-15 runners

Made the same point last month and totally ignored by Sky...

Hi Brrrrr and everybody else who has contributed to this thread.

Having looked into the mid-afternoon tournament structure, we have added some £250 Bounty Hunters.

These run at 2:30, 3:30, 4:30 and 5:30 pm and can be found in the lobby now.

They are £5.75 to play so hopefully there will be some more choice with regards to MTT's for you to get your teeth stuck into :)

Let me know how you like these tournaments,
    Joe
