Yes - DONT Take advice from Goldfish - they usually forget their holding cards before it even gets to the flop.
thank you all for your advise and tips ,i look forward to playing in the dtd on Monday for the first time, do i need to join a tean? if so how do i go about it? who would want me?lol. Its been really nice of you all to send so time posting on this thread i really appriciate it. lets hope i can retain some of the info and change my poker fortunes lol once again many thanks every one Spoony21 (akaKevin) (aka KC) Posted by spoony21
Hi Spoony
You can play as an independent. On monday a list comes in the general forum with red writing. Put your name in there "yes pls" and as "IND" then you MUST register for each of the DTD!,DTD2 and DTD3(or has sky done it for you?). You could have a look at the different teams in team talk, make a decision and apply. There's no rush and it really is only played for fun. make a list of problem hands as you play and put them in the clinic on tuesday to get advice. Then you're improving as you play which is the aim, isn't it. Hope to see you there but don't go stealing my chips will you? All the best....

What a great thread and really shows what the community on Sky Poker are all about!
Can't really think of anything to add to the excellent advice so far. I'd just say take your time, do your 'education' at the low levels where losing some buy ins here or there won't hurt and never be scared to ask any questions on the forum or indeed on the TV channel.
Make sure you let us know how its going too. Always nice to see how new players start off their journey, and interesting too....and by finding this forum and getting involved you have just made your starting period in poker SOOOO much easier!

Just to confirm, so that spoony knows, I have arranged for him to be Registered by Sky Poker for the three DTD Tournies on Monday.
His name should appear in the Lobby sometime on Monday morning. If it does not, let me know immediately.

Morning Kev.
As Proffy said, no, you do not HAVE to join as Team, that is up to you. The Teams are nothing to do with Sky Poker as such, but we try to support them because, on balance, we think they are generally a good thing.
There are pros & cons of course. Sometimes the Team rivalry gets a little ott, but for the most part, 90% of the time, it is good-natured banter, & as an individual, sometimes it's good to have solidarity with a bunch of like-minded poker players. I listed most of the bigger Teams in my earlier Posts - TKP, Team 51, THS, TPT, Leg Ends, etc. They are all different, each has their own ethos & character.
If you wish to be part of the (unofficial) Forum DTD thread, just Post your name on the Thread, & Chris (scouse red) & Michael (DTW Bandit) will take care of the rest.
Any further questions, Post them on this thread, & one of the lads will assist.
Before you play the Event, have a good read of the thrread again - it is jam-packed with good basic advice.
I don't mind if you go busto early in all three, bad beats happen, but I'm hoping you play to a better standard than last week. Remember, do NOT be calling with those K-3 & J-5 type hands, just THROW THEM AWAY!, PLAY LESS HANDS, you were playing every hand last week, & BET PROPERLY or don't bet at all.
Huge thanks to everyone who has Posted tips & advice on this thread.
Sky Poker are a very long way from perfect, likewise the Community, sometimes it gets a bit ott, but what other Poker Community would help out fellow players like this?
