Vegas is calling

edited August 2012 in Poker Chat
Off to Vegas at last. Made a few calls today and booked for October 4th, 10 days at Excalibur. £1000 package direct flight from Manchester - great deal. Not a fancy hotel, just need clean bed, shower, room safe and reasonable location - not great but its Ok.Must do List:Bellagio fountains many times.Wynn Dinner buffet - the best, but most expensive on strip.Breakfast at restaurant at front of Paris (cant remember name ) - excellent French Toast. The light show downtown. Been to Vegas 3 times but never seen it.Do some celebrity watching at Bellagio and Aria on Saturday night.Go to Pawn Stars shop as seen on TV and try and get Ricks autograph to keep mother in law happy. Better go on bus, if I get in a cab and ask for Pawn shop there is no telling where I might end up.Also must remember to phone wife in Uk a few times and say wish you were here etc.As for poker my intention is to play mostly $1/$2 NL and if do ok start entering a few tournys about $50 buy in. If all that works step it up to the $125 tourny at Aria. I will have a bankroll of $1700 and if it all goes wrong will drop it down to $2/$4 limit for a while. Will also play day 1 at this level as I will be playing tired. All poker will be on the strip, staying 3/4 hours in one casino then moving on, but I am planning 1 day downtown to take in Golden Nugget and Binions.Well thats the plan if there is interest I will post how I got on when I get back.

Nice 1 you will love it.  I was there in june during the world series of poker.  Favourite place for cash games is ceasars they keep the cocktails flowing every 15 minutes!  I myself will be going to vegas during the world series this year for the 3 months its on to play cash games.  Have a blast

Dont forget to do the grand canyon trip, it has to be one of the most amazing places on this planet. You will feel miniscule when you see the vast expanses and the sheer drop of the canyon.

French place is Mon Ami Gabi!

For a better buffet than Wynn (arguably) and nearer to you try the Wicked Spoon buffet in Cosmopolitan

    Enjoy!!

    hi mate
If you are playing 1/2 then concentrate on the venetian its the softest game full of tourists who want to chill out and have a few drinks they dont mind losing 500 bucks as they treat poker as a laugh and a break from the table games where they lose thousands just be sure to get involved with the table banter and dont sit quietly or you will get no action when you play a hand
The $125 game at the aria is pretty soft but like most vegas tourneys is a re-entry so you probably arent rolled for it but if you get off to a good start then give it a go
1/2 at the aria is pretty soft too
I wouldnt recommend playing $60 tourneys as the rake is horrific but check out planet hollywood they have 3 guarenteed tourneys a day that often have an overlay
above all have a great time

Thanks gixxer - great advice. Didnt realise aria tourny was rebuy - probably a no go then, Will check out PH Will give 1/2 a go at Venetian one day then. Ballys has always been slated as a soft game too, especially 9pm +

It's not a rebuy event, but, yes, re-entries are allowed (so, if you bust, and choose to buy-in again, you're treated as a new player). It plays really well and the field is super soft. Recommended!
