What Now?

edited September 2012 in The Poker Clinic
3rd hand of a dym flopped the world and painted myself into a corner trying to let them catch up.
Is this just a check and see what they do or is that to weak?
How would you have played this from start?

    Interesting.

I'm shoving the river. I'd think there's more of a chance that a 9 would shove over our check-raise on the turn and the pot is 1.5x our stack... I can't fold quads with this stack-to-pot ratio. You'd need to be super-deep.

You could be called by 66 or higher or perhaps even someone just hoping that they're chopping the pot. That's unlikely but people do it. You'd be annoyed if you check and he checks behind. I guess the other guy had the 9 and you went broke but I don't think I'd mind going broke with quads.

I think checking-calling the flop is alright since you've smacked it so hard and the overcard is only a 9, as long as you intend to lead the turn if it's checked around. It depends on the table dynamic but leading the flop can be alright too alot of the time.

The check-raise on the turn is a little small but I suppose it's alright given stack sizes and the massive bet we're facing. It leaves us with a reasonable shove on the river for value but I think I'd still want to make the turn raise a tad bigger - 900 perhaps. Nitpicking, really.
