Should I fold the set?

edited September 2012 in The Poker Clinic
Tonight I've started on my quest to learn cash play. When the first reraise came in 9 10 flashed in my mind but I thought two pair was more likely but when repops my reraise Iknow he has 9 10 but with the set and what I've invested I decided to call to try to house up. Is this correct or should I just fold and save my self 50bbs?
Does anybody have thoughts on how I should play this diferently.

When he makes the 4-bet, you don't "know" that he has 9T but even if you did, at this point your pot odds are far too good to fold. You're getting better than 3:1 and I think you're around 30% to win against the made straight. Something like that anyway.

Folding would be bad regardless of him having the straight but he could have 88, JJ or QJ (or even some crazy 8J or 8Q. This is NL4, after all) You're dominating those hands, so even if your pot odds weren't good enough to justify the call against 9T, against his range you must always call.

No way. This is just a cooler.

I'd start raising more like 5x pre, especially with a limper. When it comes to you on the flop, I'd probably just shove because it's rare people will ever raise the flop and then fold at this level. There are so many hands he could be doing this with, 88 and JJ obviously for a sick cooler, but alot of people at this level would do this with Q8, QJ, J8, AQ, AJ, AA, KK (all hands I've seen plenty of people limp/call at this level).

Unlucky, well played and just for you.... You Suck, Run Better!!

no tis fine - never raise like this and fold - you put in half your stack - if you put in a 1/3 of your stack you can never fold
