Calling then exposing a hand out of turn

I was playing a home game tournament the other night. I was short stacked and went all in on the flop with top pair AA.  There were 3 to act after me and the player last to act calls and exposes his hand out of turn. We didn't know the rules on this to the letter. Is the hand dead or is that ok? It turned out he hit two pair on the river with AJ and knocked me out
