meh. The amount of times he flips over 2p here is quite unbelievable. I'll just stove his range - you think it's poss he's shoving TP? I presume fds are in his range...

was thinking flush draw or even k j

    Hi IDCU

For me a set is there so easily...its easy to set mine...i know i'm not calling so early. Feel that you must be behind.
     for me a fold mate.

But why would a set shove? It's so hard to flop sets, and then when you do, you lose all the value of flopping a disguised hand by just shoving and making everyone fold

If they have a set, it's a big mistake from villian IMO. I suspect it's more like 2prs, FDs, and the OESD

i ruled out a set u dnt shove with a set if u had a set u would just call
  • edited September 2012
Wouldn't you also just call if you had KJ or some other top-pair hand? I'm not sure it matters what you or I would do here, IDONKCALLU. I don't think you or I would limp-call any hand. These are the players I find hardest to put on any range at all.

To be fair, if you're asking us to guess what hand he has limp-called for the 5x raise with, then shoved this flop, I'm going to guess at AA or KK.

Moral of the story... don't call 100+BB shoves with 1pr hands, when someone has limp/called, then suddenly comes to life on the flop.
  • edited September 2012
are u being results orientated here paul if i won is it a good call :)

  • edited September 2012
No of course not, it's a terrible call. Why would you risk more than 100xBB in a spot like this where you aint even that strong. A weak player limp/calls, then suddenly after being really passive preflop, comes alive and shoves... this is never a bluff, and it's never even as weak as KJ.

It's always gonna be hands you're behind to or a marginal favourite, and when you're this deep v bad palyers you don't need to do it. The skill element in a good players game is post flop, reading boards etc. not being capable of winning races. If he's bad, which he clearly is from this hand lol... you can almost certainly get his chips off him later, without taking a big risk of busting.

ok any 1 woulda thought u crush the mtts lol i dnt think its a bad call i would do this call alot of mtts
  • edited September 2012
Donk seriously, it was blatantly obvious you made a comment just to make a comment like that above. Would you have posted this if you'd won?

I don't crush MTTs but it would be tricky to do so cos I don't play them lol... in the last 12 months, I'd estimate I've played less than 30 MTTs. Mostly because I don't like how high variance MTTs are, so I play them occasionally for fun but would never have the discipline to just grind MTTs.

Low buy in MTT, against a bad player with TPTK its certainly not a bad call.

    thankyou curt

I wouldn't say it's a horrible call. I'm not a huge fan of it, but it aint tooooo bad - you're probs good here sometimes.. But yeah folding is optimal w/o reads imo

    Hi L
Yes maybe a set is a bit much but IDCU has a reputation(a a good player may i add) and had had a bad day the day before(still slightly tilted possibly). I knew this so maybe others did too. Sharkscope shows past tourneys doesn't it.Personally if i had a set here. I would have AI'd. It looks weaker than it does strong and even if he folds i've won a good size pot for no risk. If he does call, i'm set to bully the table. swings and roundabouts sometimes, i feel. I still think he's behind as  said ...one pair just isn't enough to continue with. After all its not Donk-a-Thon BHearly doors is it?
