I'm a gambler more than a poker player, not a pro gambler by any means but id say more so than a recreational gambler.  My main passion is football and the horses altho ill bet on anything going and I like to think I do quite well.

I've never really recorded my wins or losses before, so decided its time to change that, and rather than just record it on a spreadsheet decided to start a diary.  I don't know if anyone will read it but the main reason for this is to have records of how I do and if anyone should enjoy it that a bonus. I'll be posting my bets on a daily basis, and shall record each days profit/loss as long as a running monthly and yearly total.

Thought about doing this a few times myself, but I dont think I'd be able to update it properly and keep going when I realise how much I'm losing.

If you can it'll be my fave thread on the whole forum, esp with those kinda stakes!! wow!

    Good luck!

Yes I do do straight winna accas, and will be having a couple tomorrow, on a saturday when theres lots of games and lots of racing, I tend to do small stakes for decent wins on both teams to score and over 2.5 coupons unless something really sticks out.  On slower days thats when ill look more closely at win accas
  • edited October 2012
Well the least said about the footy the better, never seen so many 0-0's at half time knew then I had no chance, Horses gone ok 4 winners, 1 left to run.  Current return is £276.95 so a little bit down but will update fully after the 6.15 race.
  • edited October 2012
Last horse got caught just before the line so made a loss of £57.05 not the best start but could have been worse thats for sure
  • edited October 2012
Ok couldnt resist one last bet to try and start of winning rather than loosing.

    6.45 - Wolverhampton - Mon Ami Jolie 9/4 £40

    7.45 - Wolverhampton - Progenitor 7/4 £40

Will be reading this daily and the very best of luck!

I know you won our Telegraph Fantasy Racing league and came close to winning the ENTIRE thing nationally, so I might have to follow some of your tips, albeit at much lower stakes!

Interested in your football betting, do you ever do first goalscorer combinations etc? I do when I can and actually had one come up earlier this season.

First rule of gambling dont chase money you lost!! So a bit annoyed with myself I threw an extra £80 away, I think because I put it out on the forum I didnt want to lose on my first day, will learn from this.  So not a good day but theres always tomorrow to get it back.

Thanks brrrrrrr, yeah I was close, still a little gutted to be honest, I missed 5 days worth, gonig into the last day i was in something like 108th place, so didnt think it would matter, but had a good last day and finished oh so close to winning it.

I do tend to do better on the horses than anything else but there will be darts, gold, tennis, and other sports bets thrown in.

I do like to do scorecasts (first goal scorer correct score think this is what you mean) when im wathcing a match live.  Out on the ale tomorrow for The merseyside derby, and the chelsea v manu game so no doubt ill have a go on both of those.

    Sunday 28th October

Wasn’t the best start to the diary yesterday, still annoyed that I went chasing money after a small loss, I use to always chase money and use to get into some serious holes, tend not to do it nowadays.

Today is another day tho, Sundays for me is normally a day in the pub a few silly bets not on the scale of yesterday’s bets.

    F1

Hamilton win 8/1 £10 – I don’t really expect him to win, unless he can get ahead of Webber first lap, if not I can really see him holding Hamilton up whilst Vettel gets a decent lead.

    Horse Racing

    Aintree 1.10 – Vendor – 11/8     2.15 – First Fandango 6/4 £20 double

    4.30 – Broadway Buffalo – 2/1 £20
     (Won at 7/2 returns £90)

    Wincanton 12.50 – Franklin Roosevelt – 13/8 2.30 – Comeonginger – 6/4 £20 double

That’s it for the horses because I don’t think ill get to see any of them run.

    Football

Everton 7/4 Manu 11/5 - £20 double, this is more a bet with my heart than my head but cant really see either team losing.

Everton draw 23/10 Manu draw 12/5 - £10 double same reason as above.

     Everton to win 3-1 & 3-2 £2 on both 22/1 &33/1

    Manu to win 3-1 & 3-2 £2 on both 25/1 & 28/1(united won 3-2 returns £58)

     Rooney first goal scorer 6/1 - £10

Van Persie first goal scorer 5/1 - £10 (returns £60)

You can get better odds on first goal scorer markets but I like to do those bets with Betfred because of the bonuses you get should they go on to score more in the game.

    Van Persie first goal Manu 3-2 – 100/1 - £2 (returns £202)

    Rooney first goal Manu 3-2 – 105/1 - £2

    Athletico Madrid
    Bayern Munich
    Roma
    PSV
    Porto
    Queen of the south

LoL at all those top teams then Queen of the South probably deserve them to let me down this acca pays 6.02/1 had £20 on it.

    Over 2.5 goals in the 4 premiership games 7.43/1 £10 (returns £84.30)

Both teams to score in all 4 premiership games 5.39/1 £10 (returns £63.90)

Daily amount laid out = £162
    Daily Returns = £558.20
    Daily profit/loss = +396.20
    Monthly profit/loss = +£259.15
    Total profit/loss = +£259.15

    Good Morning All

Much better second day, edited the post now to show returns, after a dissapointing first day it was just what I needed, first scorecast I've got up in a while as well a right bonus at 100/1.

Almost £400 profit for the day and a healthy £259.15 profit over the first 2 days. lets hope for more of the same today, will be back with todays bets a little before lunch.

Daily amount laid out = £162
    Daily Returns = £558.20
    Daily profit/loss = +396.20

Did they pay out on Van Persie 1st goal I thought it was down as an own goal or do they not count as 1st goal ?
  • edited October 2012

I know you said you're not a pro, but in poker even recreational players use some sort of 'bankroll management', is that the same for you with the betting?

Is it just like a rough guide and using some common sense to not go crazy or do you have some rules in place to stop yourself going 'broke' during a bad run?

If you take like the average Saturday as an example, you lay out say £300 on average, so class that as a 'buy in', I'd imagine you'd want at least 50 x this available as a 'betting bankroll' for you to be comfortable?

own goals dont count for 1st goalscorer market. like yesterday where the 1st goal was an own goal then the bet continues onto the nxt goalscorer.

Firstly appologies for the lack of replies yetserday and the lack of an update, I went for a pub lunch after uploading my bets yesterday it just lasted 8 hours longer than expected!! Not good when the kids are off for bloody half term!

Will update yesterdays bets now, then get around to replyin to the few messages.

Right yesterdays bets have been updated just the 3 winners but only made a loss of £4.50 so happy enough with that.  I havent included the snooker in yesterdays totals as I didnt relaise they didnt play untill today so they will be included today.  Williams currently losing 3-1 so looks like today is starting with an early loss.
