running pretty short stacked in the main. manage to hang on until there are 10 left. not helped by having mr mega stack on my left. I get QQ in the BB. i'm a hooping & a hollering cos I'll be able to stick it into mr megastack's eye. he raises - and then the similarly short-stacked button shoves.

normally this would be insta shove. but megastack will call with atc, and, knowing that, the shover must have a decent hand.

i'd still call but #10 is the real bubble in the main tournies.

if i fold then it's prob 40/60 i make it to 9th and i can choose another opportunity to get mega to double me up

if i call i'm in a 3-way pot against a good hand and atc

seems very nitty to fold, but i'm not in a good seat, can double up if the shover goes out, and don't like QQ 3-way.

but still, can it possibly be ok to fold QQ here?

and yes, I would have been knocked out but that's not the point.

so the verdict was:

yes my fold really was as bad as it looked! And I obviously knew that when I posted it, but happy to have confirmation.

just as some context, having been playing more cash recently I've discovered i've become much too willing to take flips where i think i'm ahead, and that had leaked into my mtt game. so i was trying really hard to lay things down much more rigorously, and be more focussed on some mtt-survival disclipline. Had taken a couple of flips to get that far, where i held, but clearly i had become over cautious at the end. and i guess with my recent mtt downswing the laddering was overly appealing.  Got to get the balance right. sigh.
