I think after I had bet £9 on the turn I had easily pot commited myself and there was no way I could fold it.

Given your stack size i think you have to stack off here although you are probably rarely in great shape.

    Pre is good.

On the flop do you think you are betting for value/protection or as a bluff? (its important to know why you are betting) if you only pot bet when bluffing this can be a huge tell.

Turn as you say is has to go in. I would prefer to be sitting with a full buyin though to help avoid these situations where people will call our raises knowing we will pot commit lighter.

ALl that said dont like villians call pre. nh coolered on the turn

I just realised that I bet the pot on the flop and I think this is why he called as I think it does make it look like a bluff. It was just supposed to be a c bet but I can tell that the size of it was very wrong. But yeah I know it wasn't much more for him to call pre but still think it was a horrible call.

Taking just the question on the post, yeah I'd have called the all-in as it is so little extra... am I right that it is effectively £10 to win £37?  Maybe I'm bias by the lower levels I play at, but there are going to be more than enough times oppo has some sort of KJ/QJ or maybe even JTc or something daft like that, which counteracts the time A4 or a set is turned over - don't think I'd ever expect to see J2 lol

I personally rarely bet full-pot c-bet and turn (but not sure that is a good route either!) and I'm still not sure it'd be that easy to get away from this hand without a good read on what the oppo is like.

Say you bet 2/3 (£2) on flop as a c-bet (pot = £7) and then 2/3 pot (£4.50) on turn for value - assuming oppo still shoves you'd then have to call £15.50 to win £31.50 (if my maths is right?)

That still means you only have to be ahead there half the time to make it a (marginally) correct call.

So yeah u/l to see J2
