Hello fellow Sky Community, My name is George screen name G_Emery and I would like to welcome you to my Poker Diary/Blog/Log/Place where I grumble about my bad beats.

Bit of backgroud on me to start with. I'm 18 years old and started learning poker at age 11. I play Holdem and also Omaha H/L. I also know quite a bit about Badugi however this isn't offered here. I live in Swindon and on Tuesdays and Thursdays play in the Poker League at the pub in town. I recently deposited £10 on here and came second in the £1,000 D/S for £155 then the next day followed it up with a win in a £3.30 B/H and took just over £50. Then came 5th in another £3.30 B/H for about £20.

I withdrew most of these winnings as it came at a time where the money was very usefull :).

My journey starts tomorrow (20/11/2012) Where I will be depositing £100. I have set myself some targets which are quite high but I am pleased with the targets I set. I hope to make a profit of £40 per week. Of which 50% of my weekly earnings will be withdrawn. I know this might be hard as my bankroll is only £100 to start with. But I am a very patient MTT player and will mainly be playing £2.20/£3.30/£5.50 Bounty Hunter or other regular tournaments. I know people say DYM are the easiest way to make money but I don't find these fun. (Yes I enjoy grinding for hours on MTT's) I will also be playing some 2p/4p and 5p/10p cash tables. I will also be hoping to satelite into the SPT Luton as would love the experience of meeting my fellow players on sky.

I will be playing at various times although less on Tuesday and Thursday nights and also at Weekends as I still have to work!

I will post here in every tournament I enter and also how I run in cash tables. I hope you enjoy reading this as I enjoy reading everyone elses! So keep a eye out for G_Emery as I will be hopefully qualifying for the TV Tournaments aswell.

Have fun and be lucky ;),

    George.

EDIT - My targets have been edited to fit in line with peoples advice, thankyou.

    Aha what a co-incidence lol ;)

LOL conincidence i am putting on £100 tomorrow too

Pretty unrealisticc to make 50% profit every day, whatever stakes your playing!

If you are going to play cash then do not go higher then nl4, with your roll if you dont want to deposit again you need to have good brm. Also on that note if you dont want to redeposit i would suggest maybe 40-50 buy in rule although it is still beatable on here with 20 buy ins, just more room to breathe and means your not chasing.

Also if you plan to withdraw that often, then you will probably never have a serious bankroll. I have done this alot in the past and whenever you withdraw sometimes it can have a negative affect longterm, dont withdraw unless you have to or set a target of say £250 and then withdraw £50 as a bonus or something along that lines.

Best of luck though, hope you do well.

Ah another person from Swindon! There are quite a lot of people from Swindon on Sky (I live in Lechlade so only 20 mins away but am a Swindon Town fan). Have you ever played at the KC Club? Great group of lads there, loads of banter!

I can say now for a fact you will not make a profit everyday! You're better off withdrawing weekly (and even that won't be every week), that way you spread the variance slightly. If your withdrawing every day, when you hit a bad spell that lasts a week it will pretty much wipe you out.

I think you've got the right level of MTT's, just try not too spend too much on satelites as it can get expensive and still have no final reward.

BH's are a good way of doing it wih a small BR, because you can still get a % of your buy in back through bounties even if you don't cash. Then when you finally do bink 1, it will make a huge difference.

    Good luck.

Avoid targets that contain monetary amounts such as what you made.. 'Make £20 a day'..

Having targets such as that just leads to disappointment. Disappointment leads to tilt which costs you money. You will not make a profit everyday.

I'd consider using volume targets if you need motivation. I'm not sure how many tournaments you play or how many hours you have availiable but an example could be, I will aim to play 25 tournaments a week.

Swindon seems to be a fair hotbed of quite decent poker players - but its a shame none of that talent has rubbed off on me!!

Good luck in your quest, sounds like its a well thought out plan (post-tweaks?) and sure with patience will spin up a decent bankroll... and hopefully you'll get to at least 10p/20p cash soon enough, as I don't want yet another far better player at my level for too long, bad enough getting owned by people like Tintin on every 5/10 table I stop at :)

Out of interest, are there many genuinely good live games in Swindon, or do you guys spend more time heading out of town for games?

DAY 1. Deposited £70 rather than £100. Update to come after a few hours play.

A pretty uneventfull half hour play on a 2p/4p cash table. Bought in with £4 left with £2.94. Just needed to kill tim till the 8:30AM Bounty Hunter. Got dealt Kings one hand but thats about it.

The best games are at the KC Club which is at Supermarine Aqua centre, or something like that. Not actually been since they moved from the premier club in Stratton. Other than that it's home games or pub games, but the KC club will be better as they do STT and Cash as well as their tournies. Outside of Swindon, the place everyone goes is Gala casino in Bristol. They get some decent fields there and the standard is horribly bad! They also do cash games from 25p/50p to £2-£2. As well as the usual casino games.
