Is this a cooler or am I just a MTT donk

Cant get anywhere with sky mtts at the mo. Was very deep stacked when this hand played out, I am readless on villain. Apologies for poor cut/paste it never works.

We'd need to know suits of all cards to be accurate.

Preliminarily I'd say fold to the raise pre-flop. Even with position J8 isn't much of a hand and it will be dominated by alot of the raisers range.

Why are we raising on the turn?

I can't say much more without knowing the suits, though. Also, any reads on our opponents play up to this point would be helpful.

can't see suits. Unless we've flopped a flush, I can't see why we would raise the turn?

Impossible to flop a flush when we flop a pair too lol.

Suits are diamonds for both of us. Usually I would fold pre but it was a rush of blood moment. He donk betted the flop and turn with the same amount. I put him on 2nd or 3rd pair (been playing to many hypers), my turn bet was made for value because I thought I was ahead and I still had the flush draw. River perhaps should have been a call and move on.

UTG+1 (villain) raises and you call with J8 suited from the cut off. Thats where the hand went wrong IMO. Fold pre

Once you call flop comes (im assuming) 5d6hJc (rainbow 1 diamond). Its worth noting he hasnt donk lead the flop. He was the pre flop aggressor and has continued. I guess once youre in the hand the flat on the flop is fine.

Turn is a Qd? If so, I prob wouldnt raise in position. Id prob flat again.

When the river brings in the flush draw I go broke.

We still need to know the suits of the board. If you had top-pair and a flush draw on the flop, that's different to only picking up the draw on the turn.

If you had the draw on the flop, you should probably have raised there where your equity was highest. Either way, when you raise the turn it's really hard to be called by worse than top-pair with an 8 and your draw only gives you a 20% chance of improving. Your 8 and Jack may still be good, of course, but you're likely to only be called either by a better hand or by a hand that has your draw in trouble, giving you reverse implied odds to hit.

Your raise size is a bit too small as well, I think.

MJ8BS is right about the donk-bet too. It's only a donk-bet when a player leads into the previous aggressor.

His range is obviously wider than 2nd/3rd pair, u can't put him on hands like this.....

You read it spot on, this is an example of how bad I can get when im not focused/bored or spewy.

Ok, if thats the case Im with Dohhhhhh. 2nd or 3rd pair? If he has raised from UTG+1 im not putting that many 5s or 6s in his hand. Even if the villain bets all 3 streets and you call the guy down and miss your flush draw, on the river its likely you are only beating a bluff with J8 against the range of hands I would (readless) put an UTG+1 raiser on having.
