Beginner help

edited December 2012 in Poker Chat
Hi all
I have just started playing poker and chose sky poker because of the reviews. I am looking for players to play with from my area which is teeside. I would also like to start playing local live tournaments but I need some guidance as to which would be the best to suit my ability.
Thanks
Paul

If you're looking for help specifically from people on Teeside, then you might want to edit your thread title so you draw those people's attention.

If you're looking for advice on playing live poker, then I'd suggest not starting in Pub games or anywhere else that isn't a fully licensed casino or card room. Best to start by playing tournaments rather than cash games and you want to try playing Freezeout tournaments at first. That's a tournament that doesn't allow you to rebuy when you're knocked out. Most casinos run reasonably well-structured tournaments for around £20-£30 once or twice a week.

If you would like advice on your online play, try posting a few hands to the poker clinic section of the forum. Make sure you mention that you're a new player and people will take the time to explain what you might have done well, what you could have done better and why you should do things differently in future.
