i agree that fools and horses is great, but i thought at the end they did become a bit lame, so i have to go with fawlty towers, there are only 12 episodes ever made and i can still watch them over and over again, how many other series could you say that about - pure genius. On another point i know its daft but dads army still makes me laugh, another great? And ive just noticed, where is red dwarf and black adder - what a poxy poll without some of the greats IMO?

I'm sorry Quaggy, anything involving Ricky Gervais is definately not funny.

The bloke is just an arrogant egotistical idiot, with very little talent, living off one mildy amusing moment.

When he wrote a Simpsons episode, it was panned for being the least amusing episode ever written.

Thats a point, why isn't The Simpsons in your list?

Hale Hale Hale, i would've like to have included loads more but that's all i could fit in. The Simpsons and Family Guy are class and would have been on if there were more spaces.

You're right about that Gervais Simpsons episode, it was pants, but The Office and Extras are quality.

I managed to sit through an episode of the office once, which seemed to last about 4 hours, I just couldn't find a thing to smile about.

Now early Shameless, pure quality, but lost it's edge the last 2 years. They should have stopped doing them when it was on top.

Peter Kay used to be funny, but he is now well overrated, and hasn't written anything new for 6 years.

Bit of a cop out releasing singles for children in need and comic relief, gets all the exposure and doesnt use any material, he can't lose can he?

Tightfisted so and so as well, half the cast of pheonix nights wont talk to him now because he wanted sole rights over the scripts but he didnt write them alone.

Like the sketch shows in particular, so will throw in,

BIG TRAIN and CHEWIN`THE FAT....thread made me think of it, so I have just watched some of this on youtube. Magic.

cant believe phoenix nights is not there, that and the spin off max and paddy were good but my fave is a scottish 1 STILL GAME, originally a sketch on chewin the fat but ended with a series. all about 2 pensioners living in a rundown estate of glasgow, bit like rab c nesbitt but a bit cruder. Not sure how much was showed down south tho.
