I AM BUYING ONE OR THE OTHER BUT I HAVE HEARD A FEW BAD THINGS ABOUT XBOX ,3 RED LIGHTS OR SOMETHING
BUT WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THE PRICE DOWN

Go with the PS3 mate. If you were to buy an Xbox & get RROD(red ring of death) then it's a lot of hassle, mine got it & that was after 6 months & I wasn't even playing it for hours on end. There's some good deals on ps3 slim if you shop around, it was £199.99 in Sainsburys the other week, don't know if that's expired though.

go with te 360,better controller,better games,better online features.

There are well reported issues with reliability,but if you buy a new one they have been improved.

If you are looking to keep the price down, i think the xbox 360 is better value at the moment.  And as for worrying about the reliability, I'd suggest taking it back before the 12 month warranty expires, and say something about the discs not reading.  They'll assume the laser has gone, and simply replace it.

Definitely PS3.  XBox cheaper but PS3 miles better.

Would recommend PS3, free online compared to subscription to live for Xbox, Blu Ray built in but also plays DVD's and Cd's.

Behind Xbox in terms of quantity of games available however quality of games very good especially the console exclusives (especially uncharted)

i brought a 360 just over a year ago, didnt play it much but the then the problems started nothing major 3 red rings of death phoned xbox was offered a repair after much arguing i managed to get a brand new machine from them but then 2 weeks later same problem i then got another new machine aswell as 2 free controllers and had no problems since. i must admit i would prefer a ps3 just too expensive at the mo.

as for the online yes you do have to pay to use xbox live (its free on ps3) however if you shop around you can get the xbox live for as little as £2.50 per month it just depends how you buy it. you also have a greater selection of games on the 360 plus you can play a large selection of old xbox games on the console, whilst on the ps3 i believe its only certain models of the ps3 you can play ps2 games on.

Hope this helps, if anyone is having problems with there 360 let me know and i might be able to help with getting some freebies from them for you, i did it and it does work,
