Any thoughts

Hey all,
Virgin poster here so apologies if my lingo/eticate not up to scratch. Qualified via satelite for big buyin tourney and had decided to play very tight early on as was bit nervous playing against better players tbh. I only called the reraise as was putting one of my 2 oppos on AA KK or AK and knew I would fold if A or K came on flop so didnt want to put any more chips in this early in tourney.  Should i have reraised pre flop as was suggested after the hand when copping bit of flak from my oppo?

    Hi W

You had your reasons and a plan. Ok rer is probably the standard play but i understand your reasons for this and am fine with them.

absolutely fine as early in tournament basically avoid the over cards on flop and go for it if u run into bigger pp its one of those things -your too strong to fold

As regards your play, seems fine to me. you were aware of the potential threat and adjusted accordingly. Seems totally reasonable to me.

Additionally, I don't get why you got flak in the chat box. - He called you on a 3/1 shot & didn't get there.

Not your fault, his really and yeah, maybe you should raise pre with premium pairs, but if everyone ALWAYS did what they were supposed to, the game would be dull & predictable.

Yeah, I think you should probably 4bet pre, but not the end of the world.

    After that, perfect.

    4bet shove pre

Can either flat or 4bet, either is ok, gj at holding postflop though, nice to win when you are an underdog! ;)

    i would 4bet shove

So you put one of your opponents on AA, KK or AK, hands that are massively ahead of your QQ or flipping. The flop comes T high and your opponent bets into you - now, either he is c-betting  big with AK and your ahead, or he is c-betting with KK or AA and you are massively behind.

You decide to go all in... why? If your opponent has AK he is most likely only calling with AKs (the flush draw) in which case your flipping. If he has KK or AA and calls you are crushed. Basically you are putting all your chips in and when you get called you are never very happy. This is not good because when we normally put chips in with what we deem a good hand it's because we want/wouldn't mind a call.

To make it clear, I'm not criticising the play but the thought process behind your play. If you put him on a wider range of hands than AA, KK, and AK (say 99+, AT+, KQ, maybe even suited connectors) then your play becomes completely standard. I'd say this is the case with this hand (altho maybe he has a slightly less wide range than the one i gave him, it still makes it fine)

F Ivanovic "You decide to go all in... why?"

Seppe "Why the hell did you shove on that flop then? u aint going to get them to fold aa/kk"

To answer that honestly when i said i put him on AA KK or AK it was more like i was fearing those hands than me actually putting him on any hand and i made a snap decision just to flat the reraise preflop and if no A or K came on the flop i was going to shove whether anyone C betted before me or not and if he had Aces or Kings so be it.And to be honest again I never took any time post flop to consider the 2 clubs and the fact he cud have AK suited which means he is ahead, i was hoping he had Ak off or a smaller pair . Flawed play/thinking i know now but its a problem i have sometimes deciding what im going to do postflop ... preflop  !

In saying that lads rather than shove after his Cbet at that stage should i just call off any bets thru the streets as long as no club or A or K appear ?
