I would have done the same thing but then again Im not a good player, however as he keeps calling your early bets then I may have had him down as trips from the flop or pos flush draw and maybe bet a half pot on turn and then you would know he had something if he bet again. Either way you were going to lose a lot of chips though. Hopefully some good players on here will give you better advice ? Pos needed putting in Poker Clinic section though to get reviewed properly ?

Played this ok I prob wouldn't be x4bb pre 2.5 or 3 is fine (unless this is how you have been opening previous) flop bet is spot on but only issue I have is shoving the turn I don't think there's any need for this I presume you are doing this to push out draws etc I think you can achieve this with pot or over bet pot a little BUT either way I think it's all going in looking at it from villians pov I would be jaming your turn bet any way so nothing major wrong just bet sizing imo :-)

i would have had him down as trips or over pair more than a flush draw myself because with him having atleast 70BB to call just for a flush is a total waste really unless he had AKs or KQs
the only hand i could see calling on the turn was a better over pair or a set.

Nothing wrong with the way you played this hand, preflop raise is fine. The turn card changed nothing (no flush, no straight and the board hasn't paired), sets are very hard to detect. The villian could just as well been calling with Ace Jack... you were unfortunate to be out drawn, but late on in a tournie, where some people tighten up to make the cash, others loosen up to take advantage of their position.
If you played this hand 1000 times you would win the majority of the time. This time the villian was lucky with his draw... don't forget he was beating the board too on the flop and had no reason to fold either.

Just a tip when posting in the clinic... add some info on the villian and the way he was playing...

Odd to just limp with JJ. I think you are better raising up pre rather than calling the limp and I think 800 is fine. Flop offers the flush and 3/4 pot bet is fine. The call is a worry but AT, T9s certainly may. Others too. Turn bet I'm not so sure of really as a smaller bet would have given you chance to get away as surely call suggests trips after your raise pre. You were unlucky as your opponent looked like he was going broke after calling your flop bet. That's poker I'm afraid.

Had opponent on flush draw , shoved on turn to try bet him off hand . Looking back and on reflection mabey a bit rash with the shove after him calling my bet on the flop . However live and learn , the joys of not being that good at the game .
