was i right to shove?

edited January 2013 in The Poker Clinic

raising on these micro tables just doesn't seem to be done very much and it's so hard to read what the villian is holding.
i have pocket jacks and still have not seen a reraise from the villian so thought h must be chasing a big card aand went for a shove only to discover he had QQ then when i see that Q come on the river it makes me regret my shove even more as i just would not see myself calling a shove knowing how often villian chase for the card they want

I think when you shove turn you may lose value from hands that you beat 7s 8s etc, flush draws. Although its 4nl and is unpredictable. You seem to have hit the panic button there abit on the turn. Still think its right to take 3 streets of value on that board at this level. Just make a note that he flats on the button with Qs and is a station

no but your bet sizing is better up until the turn. You panicked though and were getting worried about playing a big pot. You just needed to relax and bet 75-100% of the pot on the turn and same on the river. Its so rare you're opponent will have a bigger pair here that you dont need to worry about it.
