should i do a value bet on the river or just check?

after doing a raise preflop this villian decides to Ch/call both the flop and turn and checks on the river.
the river caused the board to become very wet with a flush and lots of straights. as this villian has check called on the flop and turn after doing a raise preflop is it best to just check back myself on the river.

What sort of value bet would work in this situation though?  If v-betting half the pot, then if the villain jams you are calling approx £1.30 to win £6.35 - nearly 5/1 on your money... surely, especially at NL4, you have to call and just let out a loud sigh when you see the flush/straight?

Genuine question - I know my river play is my biggest weakness and am trying to learn something here myself!

FWIW I think I'd always check in this spot and hope my hand holds up... not sure what worse hands would (or rather, should) call me, but accept that at the lower limits, one pair or two pair hands could well call a value bet.

I'd check behind as well personally.

He could easily have a 10 and not bet out because the river brings flush possibilities. His range could also easily be nut flush and just wants to c/r shove you on the river.

You probably are ahead but v/bet risk reward I think it's a check. On a board like that he shouldn't be calling a 3 barrelled bet with just a king... then again it is an unknown at 4nl and he might have 3 high.

I think it would be a very thin spot to v-bet, to much out there straights/flushes that went ahead of you but also don`t think opponent will call with just a pair on this board now.

so imo just check behind take note on what they are calling you down with.

at 4nl people will definately call with 1 2 pair hands its definately a value bet when he checks to us and obv folding to a check raise.

thanks for the advice on what to do on the river
i did decide to do a bet but i'm thinking it might have been too big TBH and i probably should have did a bet of around 50p considering how wet the board is.
as for the villian himself well i guess he's just another calling station who must want the nuts if he does a raise.
