    Hi Don
    Good luck!
IMO I think start with 2 tables given your bankroll.
As you know the variances on nl4 can be huge. I've been on Doh's day 20 for a week now (down 8BI's) so am having a break before I lose all my previous gains. Not much of a variance but I am doing very strict BRM as i don't want to deposit again. You'll have to be disciplined.
I'm going for a £ amount before I move up. I almost got there before the last week kicked in. Was within a BI but I don't believe it affected my play as mentioned above. I just lost the flips I had been winning and came up against those who didn't let go and hit. I think target setting is fine as long as you are not pushing for it. nl4 can trip you up easily. Just have it in the back of your mind as a point when you will be happy to move up.

Is this going to be pure nl4 or are some MTTs going to sneak in?!

    Good luck
    Dave

I really think you should deposit more than 8BI if at all possible. Its easy have a -4BI session, and I'm pretty sure I've done 8BI in a single sitting at some stage. If you are prone to tilt playing on a low bankroll is not going to help that problem. People have probably deposited £10 and spun it up, doesnt mean its a good route to go.

    Anyway best of luck

Please don't take this the wrong way, I don't know much about your success in MTTs but are you really good enough for people to think it's worthwhile staking you?

I know you do have different accounts on different sites but I just thought you'd have a bigger bankroll and be a consistent player in the Sky main events, BH, Open, Primo, Roller etc if you were of that high a standard.

i play mostly 3000+ runner low stake tournaments with an ROI% of 285% on another site. Ive won HU winner takes all 128 runner tournaments as an example of probably my hardest.

Also a direct link to my sharkscope graph. not the best but for 3000 runner top heavy prize pools pretty ok

Day 1 Decided to start tomorrow instead. Day 2 4 tabled for an hour, lost 17 flips but broke even. Day 3 Logged on to sky but then heard about a freeroll sat into the Icelandic WSOP in Rekjavic so played that instead. Lost a flip on the bubble, and felt too tilted to play nl4 after. Day 4 BT cut me off, forgot the bill again! Day 18 Back r efreshed, been working at my game whilst away. Logged on to sky but nl4 was full of regs, so decided to give it a miss.  Will start again tomorrow. Day 19 Finally got a decent session in and played well. Made 2 buy ins playing solid ABC. Really feel like I'm starting to crack it. One guy got 100xbb in pre 4 different times with pocket 2's! I had an overpair every time and held all 4 times! This level is easy I dunno what all the fuss was about! lol Day 20 Had a shocking session, losing every 60/40 and getting coolered, lost 4 buy ins.  The pocket 2's guy was back again and got it in pre twice and held against my AK. I mean SERRIOUSLY, how can he not fold??? How can this level be beaten it's impossible, they just wont fold !!!!! Day 21 Decided to treat myself to a primo sat. Then another 1. Done most of my roll before finally qualifying. Bust to a 1 outer on the bubble, sooooo sick. Really feel I can compete in these fields though. Only 2 buy ins left now but I can recover. Day 22 Having a day off to recover from yesterdays primo tilt. Will start again tomorrow. Attempted the record for most hands posted in the poker clinic in a day. Feel the feedback will really help me recover. Day 23 Lost a buy in first hand of session and logged off. How can he call ffs???? Day 24 BT cut me off again, the B*****s!!! Day 31 Back with my last buy in, I can do this!!! F this right off. I open the button with AK, bb calls, flop is 10 high and he shoves into me. I fold, and stand. I'm taking my 2 quid roll back over to grind tournys on pokerstars. Blandie can you close this thread for me plz! ---------------------------------------------- Until next time Sky Poker, I have been THE don! ;)

    Day One

Little bit hungover today but have decided to power through it like a true man. Taken some advice on board and decided to start 2 tabling NL4 for 2 hours. Will update with progress at 1PM

    Day One - Update

A session that started well but ended in loss i thinks the only way really to talk about this one. I think the fact im an MTT player started to show. Typically we;re good for the first little while and then struggle. I felt this big time. First hour i played really good poker, aswell as big hands holding helps. First half hour of the second hour however i made a large number of BASIC errors. I realised this while playing and adapted but in the end it wasnt enough to recover to break even, but reduced the loss sizes.

Hands shown are either a major talking point or have winnings/losses =/> 50p.

    Winning hands.

No idea why i cant get itialics off sorry. I think this session was rewarding as i learnt alot about my game and the level thats taken me way to long to get. I have two other talking hands but put them in the clinic to give them a thread to themselves. Pleased that i got the full session that i wanted in. More of the same and a few profits to come in the next one i hope.

Don its far to hard at work to comment on each individual hand i imagine you have spoke to JJ ? if not may have bit of time to look at tonight

also see proves my theory your a card rack how many times do you want Aces?? run better lol

1- maybe less on flop, pot turn
2- river prob a c/f dont hate the call though
3- fold pre, cant see why you are shoving flop
4- river is easy fold when he bets that big
    5 - meh its prob a fold
    6 flat turn

4 lots of AA in a 2 hour period on 2 tables!!! At this level, AA is almost a cert to get someone's stack.

It just shows its not as easy as ppl think - 4 lots of aces and still no profit

    GL next sesh

Well I wouldnt say that. If he'd have just not made that terrible shove in the last hand, he'd have saved his stack and it would have been a profitable session. As it was he was £3 down.

It's one thing I've been learning about at 4NL. Getting value out of your good hands is only as important as losing the minimum on your non-winning hands. I used to do it all the time, get my £4 BI up to £8-£10 then blow it on a few bad shoves/calls looking to win a big pot.

I think if you play 4NL right, it's a very patient game and it may take some time but you will eventually find great spots and take people's stacks but people find it a nightmare to get money off you. I think here you're really only putting the money in with your made hands, you're never bluffing, so if you have an idea where you are, you should rarely lose big pots...apart from obviously when you get badly outdrawn.

It is MP33 once you get the right mindset, playing a certain style tight abc poker. bet big when you got it and lose minimal when you dont, easy game really

That shove on last hand is pretty horrific and looks like tilt to me, also is very similar to a hand Deuceslive posted a good while ago where he shoved with a draw. It doesn't take long to realise bluffs almost NEVER work at this level and trying them is pretty much setting fire to money.

88 ,QJ and A10 hands have to fold, and KQ pre after minreraise is fold.

In Response to Re: taking on NL4 diary : i play mostly 3000+ runner low stake tournaments with an ROI% of 285% on another site. Ive won HU winner takes all 128 runner tournaments as an example of probably my hardest. Also a direct link to my sharkscope graph. not the best but for 3000 runner top heavy prize pools pretty ok http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/94/graphhl.png/ over 280 games btw.

Hi Don, slightly off topic but out of interest how long do these tournies last? I would like to play some but I'm sure I saw in the lobby of one that it went on for about 12 hours and that was only a $1 or $2 buy in!

    **Brag Alert**

Well I played in a tourney like that about 4 years ago, it was only 10 cents buy-in with 3500+ runners, I came 2nd for just over $200 and that took me from 8pm til about 6am so that was 10 hours.

I was in work the same day as well so got practically no sleep that day but I was well happy, it was my first big result. So yeah 10-12 hours sounds about right.

Again though Don, if you're getting a good ROI on these and it's only low stakes, couldn't you fund them yourself then you wouldn't have to share your profit and you could take a bit of your profit to set up a proper BR for Sky cash tables.
