you guys are right about needing to be a bit mad at nl4. it drives you that way after a bit with what goes on. i've spent too long here but it was only in the last couple of months I've been putting the hours in to any great extent. hopefully by the end of next month at the latest i'll have reached my roll target and be moving off it, variance permitting!
i agree with you dude (well spotted by the way lol). the only thing i would say is i feel my "a" game slipping away from me. yes it is a money making machine on the whole and if you have no ambtion to improve your game then yes stay here and make da moniez, but you know as well as i do your not having to use your brain here ie "what are they putting me on" "can i represent this and that". 3 bet 4 bet bluffing etc. all these tools you WILL need to advance up. so as much as i have enjoyed this little jolly (still 2days to go) i feel my for my sanity. Posted by pod1
Bold bit 1 - You don't need any 'A game' so therefore it can't slip away, plus you should adapt to the table always which means playing tight when table is loose, surely that's a pretty basic concept ?
Bold bit 2 - You should NEVER imo use NL4 as a way of 'making moniez', it's simply a stepping stone that you take on your way to NL8/Nl10 and hopefully NL20/30. Staying at NL10 and just creaming off anything above £400 could be a strategy but it's never going to be epic profits whereas at Nl20+ it gets easier.
Bold bit 3 - Yes pretty obvious statement, when there are less fish and more REGS obvz you will need to change how you play but this is just adapting to the table again, if they play tight you play loose etc.
I'm up just over 6 BI's after my first month, where I've played enough to pick up 500 points for the first time.
Little dissappointed with that, but there have been some interesting learning experiences.
Table selection, how many tables to play, but probably most of all trying not to let the results of my previous session affect how I play when I sit down again.
It does seem that the hots and the colds come in groups, and somehow if I sit on 3 or 4 tables it's rarely the softer table I do best on.
bold bit1 reply). i dont need my "A" game for this your right, but i do when i finish this experiment. in july i took a mnth off cash and it took me a week to get my game back ( at a cost). letting my game slip even over 5 days may cost me more than the buy ins i make in these few days, makes sense eh!ps please dont make comments about playing tight/ loose against certain tables , does come across condescending especially when you put a ? after it. bold bit 2 reply) alot of people put money on here just to play a bit of poker, having no inclination of wanting to move up levels, nl4 is NOT always a stepping stone up the levels, for some its all they want to play.bold bit3 reply) its obviously not an obvious statement because if you feel the analogies i have put down is "just adapting to the table" then good luck my friend, come join me at nl 30!

BB1 - Sorry to sound stupid but WHY are you doing this 'experiment' and secondly why are you doing it for so long, surely 2-3 sessions would be enough ?
BB2 - Again sorry just wanted to make a simple statement that if you play against a table of loose fish then the way to play is tight aggresive as opposed to like LAGGY.
BB3 - You said and I quote
'if you have no ambtion to improve your game then yes stay here and make da moniez'
Hence you are saying STAY here and make money which I'd imagine is hard to do on any substantial level. However like you say people are happy to just play at the level break even or run at a small loss which is fine I couldn't really care what they do but feel if you want to make money you should only start that when out of NL4 and say at minimum NL10.
BB3- Yep it is just adapting, I try and adapt as best I can to tables I play at NL10, but most the time it's just a case of playing TAGGY as I always table select well to avoid playing 5 REGS, and of course as you move up less fish are about so you change you game. For now I don't feel I need to play different I just need to find whatever run good I had last month.
its just something myself and 3 friends are doing across different sites. no big thing just a little wager. i, like you want to move up and for me nl30 is where it starts getting tough, that maybe down to my poker knowledge and experience and one day i look back at this when playing nl300 and laugh, what i do know is playing loose when the table is tight and vice versa, is not good enough to beat this level. i hope you do get to nl30 ,to be fair i think you aint that far off it now.
i havent completed gow3 yet (have done most tho) minor set back with catching the flu meant i stayed at my mums the last couple of days. will start getting a minimum of 2 hours a day in again once im feeling better.
Nice one mate, you have a new problem now though in that you can NEVER realistically quit with that BR lol. Of course that's a great one to have. Posted by Dudeskin8
I have no ambition of quitting. Infact im cravin a game majorly however with my health i dont think id be close to playing optimal poker and therefore im not willing to play.

lol ive done all 50 waves of horde and 12 waves of beast. Getting to level 100 could take a little more time. Currently on 45ish. Really CBA with the Campain but guess ill so it at somepoint lol
Returned for a session yesterday. Played the NL4 HU table instead of actual NL4 this was mostly because i thought it would be easier to get me back into the game. However i fet completely destroyed after about 10 mins. Which doesnt help when the HU lasts for 1hr 30 mins - 2hrs. It was one of those games where everytime i felt i took control the other guy just hit something bigger than i did in he same hand meaning i couldnt gain any momentum.
1. Not sure about 3bet/c over 5x raise UTG with JJ pre, at NL10 I'd be more inclined to just call IP but as it's NL4 maybe it's right, still unlucky though.
2. AQ fine.
3. 88, you found a live one there lol.
4. 88 nice again.
5. Sick not to get the final 74p but oh well lol.
On HU I personally wouldn't advise this as I believe it's more easy to multitable 6 max games where the blinds aren't constantly on you and also means you can stick to a tight range which is suicide against 1 villain, oh and the rake would be crazy too.
Ty for reply dude. Yeah the Jacks i find a wierd hand at NL4 tbh. That and AQ.
Anyways making a rush for C4P today which isnt easy. Ive divided that i should be able to do it in another 4 hours of play (est) Although getting them in might prove to be hard. However id rather stay profitable than make a stupid charge for a fiver.
Anyways this session went well. Was getting back into the game and really felt back into my zone. although that may have been run good lol.

as im part of a clan im already sorted for that. Would help u if u need it however
Was in for irish rovers challenge. However table where i had £14 broke and by 11 the highest amount i had was £11 therefore i felt i had no chance. Mixing that with tiredness ive decided to call it a night. However thats my longest session in a long time lasting just over 3 hours.
Not going to post hands as tonight obv not standrd NL4

grinding nl 4p must be soul destroying
i kind of admire anybody who can put time in at that level
